JKS Series Kickstarter

We’d like to introduce you to a new watch collection. We’ll go hands-on with one of their watches in a few days but as they have launched their campaign on Kickstarter (it is scheduled to deliver in January) we wanted to have a first look at what these cool motorcycle-inspired timepieces named JSk Series bring to the table.

Over the past few years, motorcycle inspired watches seem to be coming to the forefront, and among the latest projects in that vein, Elegantsis (a Taiwan based watch company active for some 20 years) is launching the JSK series in cooperation with JSK moto Co.

JSK Moto Co. also known as JSK Custom Design, is based in California and the company was founded in 2010 by Samuel Kao, whose really cool creations have gained him wide recognition in the custom motorcycle-building scene.

The horological JSK series is a bold statement born from the love of mechanics. 47.5mm in diameter, its dynamic aggressive design is inspired by the idea of dramatizing mechanics with its dial reminiscent of a motorbike wheel. Among other features, it mixes contrasting materials, colours and finishes, and it plays with multiple layers. The JSK series are presented in several versions with some pretty cool options to choose from.

From a technical side, two versions of the JKS Series will be offered. The JSK Series Classic Collection is powered by the tried and tested Sellita SW200 automatic Swiss movement – with prices that start at US$569 for super early birds. Yet, the guys behind the project also thought that it could be good to offer another, and more affordable option, this time powered by a Japanese movement, the Seiko NH35 (also a tested and proven calibre, yet with less pedigree). Prices for the JSK Series Basic Collection start at US$269 but be fast as only 20 pieces will be made.

The stainless-steel case with AR coated sapphire crystal of the JSK Series is rated water resistant to 100m. The dial and hands feature Superluminova to enhance legibility in the dark. It is worn on Italian leather calfskin straps secured with a pin buckle. A package that sounds like solid quality for watches proposed at US$669 for Kickstarter (US$559 for super early birds), considering the Swiss movement.

If you feel the JSK series timepieces appeal to your particular sense of style, and you want to help fund the project, you can head over to their Kickstarter page here.
