The 2014 Cuervo y Sobrinos Cup and the Historiador Racing 2014 Limited Edition
Cuervo y Sobrinos is the only Swiss brand with a Latin soul and that’s something that sets them apart from the crowd of Swiss watch brands. One of the special activities that the brand organizes – a perfect example of their joie de vivre – is the annual Cuervo y Sobrinos Cup. Especially for all drivers they created the Historiador Racing 2014, personalized with the engraved number of their car. When you didn’t have the chance to participate, there’s a “normal” version available, strictly limited to 200 pieces.
The Cuervo y Sobrinos Cup goes from Milan, through the Italian Apls, to Bormio, and passes the most breathtaking sceneries. As special watch for this historical rally they created a befitting watch, the Historiador Racing 2014 Edition. The dial looks like the chrome wheel spokes of a vintage sports car, and allows a view on the movement and date wheel.
The Cuervo y Sobrinos logo is shown on the upper half of the dial, just under the brand’s name. Surrounding the movement, and visible through the “skeleton” dial, is a red ring with printed in white “racing collection 2014.” And at the 6 o’clock position is the limited edition number of your choice. Both the hour and minute hand are in steel with white SuperLumiNova. The central seconds hand has a red tip.
The stainless steel watch, with the beautifully shaped Cuervo y Sobrinos lugs, measures a pleasant 40mm in diameter and just 10.40mm in height. The crystals are double curved sapphire crystals, typical for the 1950’s. Its case-back is engraved with the logo “CyS racing” and the spoke-wheel design, similar to the dial side.
Inside ticks either an Eta 2824-2 or a Selitta SW 200-1, which are both very reliable movements with automatic winding, and a power reserve of 38 hours. It comes on a leather strap with Cuervo y Sobrinos folding clasp. As said… there are personalized and number pieces for the contesting drivers, and a “normal” limited edition of 200 pieces that come at a retail price of € 2.700 Euros.
Now to give you an idea of what the Cuervo y Sobrinos Cup is, we selected a few photos of participating cars. These photos were made during the rally and show how incredibly beautiful the surroundings are. By the way, if you want to participate and don’t own a vintage car, or don’t want to ship it to Milan for this rally, they can arrange a car for you to drive. Sounds like something to consider for next year!
