The New Bvlgari Divina Mosaica Watches (Live Pics)

Bvlgari never does things by half measures. The latest trilogy of women’s watches pays tribute to Bvlgari’s longstanding fame as one of the world’s most revered jewellery houses and its position as one of the most exciting and innovative watchmaking players on the scene today. In June 2021, Bvlgari unveiled Magnifica, the most valuable high jewellery collection it has produced in its 137 years of history. Now for the second edition of Geneva Watch Days, Bvlgari is out to wow women with these three incredible high jewellery Divina Mosaica watches.

Roman Mosaic Floors

Bvlgari is proud of its Roman roots and often takes design inspiration from the formidable architecture and decorative motifs of imperial Rome. The Divina Mosaica, as its name suggests, takes its elegant fan-shaped motifs on the dial from a particular mosaic design found in the ancient Baths of Caracalla. Initiated by emperor Septimus Severus in 206 AD and completed by his son Caracalla in 216, the luxurious Caracalla Baths were referred to as one of the seven wonders of Rome. Unlike frescoes that have faded over time, mosaics are among the best-preserved relics of Roman art.

Bvlgari’s high jewellery interpretation of the historic mosaics displays the Roman jeweller’s passion for exuberant colour on the full-set green tsavorite and pink sapphire models and its flair for integrating an ultra-thin minute repeater inside a dazzling model blanketed in diamonds.

Divina Mosaica Minute Repeater

Although the trilogy is called Divina Mosaica, the signature fan-shaped lugs of these watches belong to the Divas’ Dream family. In fact, in 2018, Bvlgari took home another world record, this time for the thinnest minute repeater for women. Thanks to the incorporation of Bvlgari’s record-breaking ultra-thin calibre BVL 362 with minute repeater, the Diva Finissima of 2018 had a lean silhouette and captivated onlookers with its glittering Urushi lacquered dial and diamonds. The Divina Mosaica, also powered by the wafer-thin BVL 362 calibre, conceals its impressive mechanics under a mantle of scintillating diamonds.

The 37mm white gold case, dial and lucky charm are covered in their entirety with baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds – 689 (11.6 carats) to be precise. The fan-shaped lugs are framed with baguette-cut diamonds and filled with brilliant-cut diamonds, an arrangement that is also echoed on the bezel with its larger baguette-cut diamonds and brilliant-cut diamonds set in the sides of the case. In contrast to the impressive radiance, the crown is set with a blue sapphire cabochon, and the hour, minute and small seconds hand are blue. The lucky charm, also set with diamonds, is used to activate the chimes on demand. Like the mosaics in the Caracalla Baths, the fan-shaped figures on the dial are highlighted with baguette-cut diamonds and surrounded by a sea of brilliant-cut diamonds, as is the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The magnificent Divina Mosaica Minute Repeater comes on a blue alligator strap with a white gold folding clasp set with baguette-cut stones.

Divina Mosaica Pink Sapphires & Tsavorite

Less complicated than the minute repeater, the Divina Mosaica pink sapphire and tsavorite models are equipped with Bvlgari’s in-house automatic BVL movement. Set with vibrant coloured gemstones, these Divina Mosaica models pick up on Bvlgari’s passion for bright, bold coloured gemstones. The 37mm rose gold pink sapphire model plays with a combination of 261 baguette-cut pink sapphires and 282 brilliant-cut diamonds to bring the mosaic fan motif to life. Moreover, the fans on the dial have a gradient colour scheme moving from a more intense tonality of sapphire at the top to paler sapphires at the bottom. Matching the colour of the pink sapphire cabochon on the crown, the Divina Mosaica Pink Sapphire comes with a bright pink alligator strap with a rose gold folding clasp set with sapphires.

The Divina Mosaica Tsavorite displays the same pattern as its sisters but uses a combination of 261 tsavorites and 282 diamonds. The luscious green baguette-cut tsavorites set inside the fan-shaped motifs on the dial are also gradient with darker gemstones at the top and lighter ones at the base. A tsavorite cabochon in the crown and a green alligator strap with a white gold folding clasp set with baguette-cut tsavorites completes this exquisite high jewellery model.
