The New Omega De Ville Trésor Power Reserve (Live Pics & Price)
A new interpretation of Omega’s elegant yet mechanically advanced watch, now with power reserve and small seconds.
Omega unveils the first in a line of new De Ville Trésor men’s watches for 2021. Previously available in three-hand & date configurations, the new 18k yellow gold Trésor model features a power reserve indicator at noon counterbalanced by a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock. Following in the footsteps of its 1949 ancestor, the guiding light behind the Trésor is the combination of understated elegance with a peerless movement. The latest De Ville Trésor Power Reserve embraces both facets. The subtle vintage vibe and slim profile deliver the understated elegance we associate with the Trésor collection, while the manual-winding Master Chronometer movement guarantees the industry’s highest standard of precision, chronometric performance and magnetic-resistance.
not just a pretty face
The Trésor, launched in 1949, was Omega’s proposal of a simple, three-hand watch for men in a slim case with the best-performing movement of its day. Trésor, meaning treasure, did not refer to the precious 37.5 pink gold case: it referred to Omega’s legendary calibre 30. Designed by Henri Kneuss and in production from 1939 to 1963, the reliability, robustness and ease of maintenance of calibre 30 set a new benchmark in watchmaking, permitting it to pass official chronometry tests with flying colours year after year. Refreshed in 2014 in 40mm gold cases and powered by Omega’s Master Co-Axial calibre 8522, the Trésor appeared in stainless steel case in 2019 and, more importantly, was fitted with the brand’s latest-generation Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement.
Refined finishings
As befits a handsome, slightly vintage-inspired dress watch, the 40mm yellow gold case is polished throughout with an embossed on the crown. Like its ancestor, it is slim and has a case height of 10.07mm. A box-form scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the slightly domed crystal silver dial. Like other Trésor models, understatement and subtlety are key attributes. The elongated hour markers, crafted from polished 18k yellow gold, are applied and domed to follow the curvature of the dial. Given the length of the yellow gold minutes hand, it too is bent to adapt to the domed dial.
The most salient feature of the new Trésor is the incorporation of two sub-dials, one at noon for the power reserve and the other at 6 o’clock for the running seconds. With their snailed interiors and minimalist black markings matching the minutes track, the sub-dials are slightly recessed for additional contrast. Naturally, there is no trace of luminescent material, just the polished gold hands and markers and the bright white dial. Another unusual feature of the new Trésor model with power reserve and small seconds is the relocation of certain inscriptions on the dial. Respecting the elegant symmetry of the dial, the logo and brand name are placed on the right and the Co-Axial Master Chronometer inscription opposite on the left.
Hand-wound master chronometer Calibre 8935
On the reverse side, the movement, also protected under a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, is Omega’s top-of-the-line Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8935. A manual-winding movement, the calibre features a silicon balance spring, beats at 25,200vph/3.5Hz, and its two barrels mounted in series deliver a robust 72-hour power reserve. The precision is certified twice, first by the COSC to obtain its chronometry certification and then by the eight tests of the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). To qualify as a Master Chronometer, the movement and the watch have reached the industry’s highest standard of precision, chronometric performance and magnetic resistance (15,000-gauss). The calibre has a special luxury finish with an 18k Sedna™ gold balance bridge, rhodium-plated bridges decorated with Geneva waves in arabesque and blackened screws, barrels and balance wheel.

Another great write up by the Monochrome Watches team. Thank you. I had missed this new Omega but I have seen the article on the Omega website for their new 2021 novelties and this is almost the most elegant. The new Tresor small seconds is just slightly more “old school” than this version but both are beautiful. The stainless steel versions with silver (power reserve) or grey (small seconds) are possibly the best of the lot.
