Ateliers de Monaco Tourbillon Oculus 1297
Forged carbon and gold case tourbillon.
For the 2019 edition of the biennial fundraiser for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Ateliers de Monaco is presenting a tourbillon watch encased in an innovative forged carbon and gold case. Carbon fibre, gold and resin are mixed together, placed in a mould, pressed and then heated to form a block. The case is then machined to obtain the desired shape. The end result is a unique, contrasting, unpredictable marbling pattern.
With its 44mm diameter, the Tourbillon Oculus 1297 features an off-centred hours and minutes display with Roman numerals and dauphine-style hands. It is riveted on a dark grey dial with a lozenge pattern in relief. The tourbillon at 6 o’clock is held under a sapphire bridge. This unique piece is powered by the automatic calibre DMC-980 entirely developed and manufactured in-house by Pim Koeslag and his team. The brand states that it operates with a rather impressive precision: it is regulated with a tolerance between 0 to 2 seconds per 24 hours. Turning the watch over, the movement can be appreciated through the exhibition caseback.
The Ateliers de Monaco Oculus 1297 Only watch is presented on an integrated grey alligator leather strap secured with a folding buckle. For more information, please visit www.ateliers-demonaco.com
