Basel news: Greubel Forsey… impressive!!
Horomundi has a special Greubel Forsey forum, moderated by the charming Ian Skellern. Ian is a Switzerland based independent watch journalist and communication consultant. In the Greubel Forsey forum at Horomundi he reveales an impressive number of 4 new releases of the Swiss watchmakers Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey.
One of the new releases features not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 tourbillons! The 4 tourbillons of Greubel Forsey’s Quadruple Tourbillon à Différentiel Sphérique contribute independently to its exceptional time-keeping performance. This is made possible by the asynchronous position of each of the four tourbillons, which are connected to two autonomous regulating organs. These organs, each housed in a tourbillon cage, are coupled to the spherical differential which ensures transmission to the display system.
The movement is a patented hand-wound caliber with 63 jewels, beating at 21,600 bph and with a power reserve of 50 hours is build from no less than 531 components. The two interior tourbillons at a 30° angle rotate every 60 seconds, the two exterior tourbillons rotate every 4 minutes. The 18kt rose gold case measures 43.5mm has an asymmetrical convex sapphire crystal and display back and is water resistant to 30 meters. The dial is made of blackened solid 18kt gold.
Greubel Forsey‘s Baselworld 2009 looks to make 2008 look like a warm up act – and 2008 included Invention Piece 1! These new releases will be shown and discussed by Ian Skellern in the Greubel Forsey forum at Horomundi:
