The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature (and Signature Rollerball Pen) With Caran d’Ache
Carl F. Bucherer has decked-out the Manero Flyback in a rainbow of colours, in partnership with Caran d’Ache.
The result of a deeply Swiss collaborative creation process, family-owned Swiss watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer has just announced teaming up with Caran d’Ache, a leading Swiss manufacturer of high-quality writing and drawing instruments. The joint venture between the two has resulted in a colourful combination of a signature watch and rollerball pen. Under the moniker of Signature Moments, the two companies present the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature and the Caran d’Ache Signature Rollerball set.
There are some similarities between both companies that make this collaboration seem like a natural fit. Both have over 100 years of history, both are renowned Swiss manufacturers, and both remain family-led organizations to this day. Combining expertise from the world of watchmaking, and the world of writing and drawing instruments, a special limited edition set has been created.
The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature takes the handsome retro-sporty Manero Flyback and presents it in a new and colourful way. On the outside, nothing changes. It still has a 43mm wide and 14.45mm thick case, with mushroom-style pushers and a knurled crown with the CFB logo in relief. The case has alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces.
Where the Manero Flyback Signature separates itself from the standard collection is its dial. Working together with Caran d’Ache resulted in a very frivolous dial with rainbow-coloured hour indices. It evokes memories of a neatly organised box of colouring pencils, something we’ve probably all used in our youth (or perhaps still use as adults). The two-tone silver and graphite grey dial is livened up even more with a red-tipped chronograph seconds hand and a red chronograph minute hand.
Powering the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature is the proprietary Calibre CFB 1970. Made with La Joux-Perret, this integrated column-wheel chronograph movement features a flyback function. It runs at a frequency of 28.800vph (or 4Hz) and uses 25 jewels. The power reserve is 42 hours when fully wound. The sapphire caseback reveals the movement and is engraved with the individual number of each piece.
The watch comes on a striped beige and red NATO-style strap made of 100% recycled PET. A grey calfskin leather patch finishes it off. A second strap is provided in a similar style, but in blue. The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature is presented as a set with a Caran d’Ache Signature Rollerball pen. This pen has a rhodium-plated and silver-coated body with rainbow-coloured triangles on the cap and body, taken from the Caran d’Ache colour wheel. The top of the cap has a graphite hexagonal decoration in reference to the chronograph subdials and the shape of Caran d’Ache’s pencils. The watch, straps and pen can be stored in the special pouch that comes with the set.
This Carl F. Bucherer x Caran d’Ache set is limited to 188 pieces and retails for EUR 6,400. For more information, please visit Carl-F-Bucherer.com and Carandache.com.
