Dietrich OT-13 – In loving memory of Emmanuel’s sister

As some of you may know, I’m French, living in France. I’m still quite young, love good food, good wine, good music – good life, to say it fast. Thus, like many of us, I’ve been highly affected by what happened this Friday 13th in Paris. And even if we are here to talk about watches and if I’ll prevent any personal or political comment, you have to know that one of us, in our watch community, had been seriously affected. Emmanuel Dietrich, founder of Dietrich Watches, lost his sister that day, shot by barbarians in the street of Paris. Then again, we are here to talk about watches but we have to remember – and for that, Emmanuel will create a watch, the Dietrich OT-13.

Here is what Emmanuel Dietrich posted yesterday on social media:

Dear friends and partners, dear watch community,

I never wanted to produce an OT-13. I have nothing against this number, but wanted to respect the sensitivities of all. However, things changed dramatically this past Friday the 13th as barbarians shot down my little sister in the streets of Paris.

I will produce a limited edition of 13 pieces in her memory. They will be uniquely for my family and close friends. I do not want to do business with our pain.

What I wish is for you to share – if you can – this image and message. At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use the blue, white and red of the French flag. Because I do not feel pain just for France, but for all our brothers and sisters in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and everyone around the world who has suffered through similar losses because of fanaticism. I finally decided to do so in honour of the value of the French republic I was educated with and hold so dearly: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.

That is all we need today to make this world straight again and live together in peace

Thank you from all my heart for your support and compassion.

Kindly yours,

Emmanuel Dietrich

Attached with this message was the photo of the watch in question. As said, the goal is only to remember and this Dietrich OT-13 will remain in the family of Emmanuel. It won’t be sold. You’ll probably guess why the choice of colour, Bleu / White / Red and the small heart at 3 on the dial.

Dietrich OT-13 - 1

This article is certainly not the most enjoyable I’ve done and do understand that there’s only a wish of tribute here and not of publicity, just like the Dietrich OT-13 will never be commercialized. We only have to remember and pray for a better world.

We kindly ask you not to comment this post and to respect the pain of Emmanuel. However, we deeply invite you to share this article or the social media posts of Dietrich Watches, via these links on Instagram and Facebook. Thank you.
