Discover the future of horology at the AuroChronos Festival in Poland

Great news for our Polish readers (and those close enough to travel there)! Yes, Poland watch lovers, we know you’re there. And we’re here for you with an announcement which might interest you. Through the watch grapevine, we heard the news of the third edition of a watch festival in Poland. And it’s definitely not just another get-together of salesmen; it’ll be a nice gathering with some of the finest independent brands and many watch lovers.

The name of the festival is AuroChronos and it will be held at the Expo-Łódź in Lodz, on October 5 and 6. This is the third time this event takes place and it’s been growing every year. The goal of the festival is to share the love for fine and independent watchmaking. Local producers will attend the event, just as many independent watchmaking brands from around the world. During the festival, attendees will be able to learn about the origins and development of remarkable watches and their creators.

Watchmaking teacher and jury member Kalle Slaap adds: “A well-organized exposition of very promising microbrands. Discover the future in horology here first!”

According to Dutch watchmaker Michiel Holthinrichs: “Aurochronos has a unique vibe due to its surprising location, passionate organizers and dedicated independent watchmakers attending. It is absolutely an upcoming festival with large potential and relief compared to heavily marketed and pretentious but declining events.”

The fun thing about this festival is that it’s actually organized with an ideological goal. The organizers explain their motives as a sort of antidote to the big, commercial watch fairs. “The world of wristwatches has been dominated by large capital groups of the watch industry for many years,” they write on their website. “We respect these brands and admire their achievements. We understand, however, that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and therefore it is virtually impossible to cater to the needs and tastes of all consumers with universal solutions on a large scale.”
