The New Favre-Leuba Sky Chief Chronograph Collection
A new advertising campaign and a colourful revamp of the Sky Chief Chronograph.
One of the oldest names in the Swiss watch industry, Favre-Leuba made its comeback a few years ago. The Solothurn-based manufacturer has released a series of cool, sturdy mechanical watches for activewear, featuring unique built-in functions such as a depth-gauge for the Bathy or an altimeter for the Bivouac. After a few months at the helm of the company, the brand’s new CEO Philippe Roten, together with his team, presents an updated brand identity and new advertising campaign. The new lifestyle communication approach aims to speak to a larger audience. The ‘Trust Yourself’ campaign remains faithful to the brand’s spirit of adventure. But with it, Favre-Leuba broadens its philosophy to the Life Adventure – exciting stories that do not only happen on top of the highest peaks or in the depths of the ocean.
Together with their new ‘Trust Yourself’ campaign, Favre-Leuba unveils a facelift of its Sky Chief Chronograph collection conceived as “bold, urban, and yet true to its roots”. The revamped collection comes with a new colour palette: autumn green with black counters, burgundy red with brown counters, velvet black with beige indexes and a panda with a porcelain white dial, black counters and red cherry accents. The new dials are matched with a choice of colourful interchangeable straps in suede leather: oak brown, dark root brown, sand beige and khaki green.
Modern with retro vibes, the new Favre-Leuba Sky Chief Chronograph stands out with its cool, laid-back and chic style. The round stainless steel case is still 43mm in diameter and still features its signature faceted bezel and “bridge-shaped” profile. To enhance grip, the chronograph pushers have been engraved with a chequered motif. The crown is adorned with the brand’s logo and it screws down. The caseback is also screwed and it is aligned with the brand logo and markings always upright rather than positioned randomly. Water-resistance is rated at 100m.
Protected under a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the dial has a bi-compax layout. It features distinctive faceted indexes and hands inspired by Favre-Leuba models of the 1960s and 1970s. The automatic chronograph movement inside is based on the reliable ETA 7753, itself derived from the tried-and-tested 7750. This means an integrated cam-and-lever chronograph movement running at 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasting 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The date can be quickly set via a push-button at 10 o’clock.
