Frederique Constant Special Edition “Pink Ribbon”
Pretty in pink and for a good cause.
Frederique Constant revisits three of its popular ladies’ models to support the Pink Ribbon Foundation. October is breast cancer awareness month, and for every Pink Ribbon watch sold during October 2020, 10% of the proceeds will go to a local charity involved in research to find a cure. Three watches have been singled out for the pink cause – Ladies Automatic, Classics Carrée Ladies and Classics Quartz Ladies – all fitted with new pink straps.
Giving from the Heart
Frederique Constant has been involved with charitable initiatives since 2008, coinciding with the launch of its ladies’ Heart Beat collection. With its openworked heart-shaped area on the dial to reveal the balance wheel, the watch was a natural candidate to generate proceeds for various heart-related charities, like the World Heart Foundation and other charities that reach out to children with congenital heart disease. The latest cause that the brand embraces is breast cancer with the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
The Pink Ribbon foundation started life as a website founded in 1997 by Paul Davidson to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer. Renowned the world over for its pink ribbon logo, Pink Ribbon has grown into an international platform covering more than 30 countries over five continents and has a roster of high profile advocates and companies to spread the word. For the latest charitable initiative, Frederique Constant has singled out three popular models from the Classic Edition family.
Ladies Automatic pink ribbon
A straightforward time-and-date model, the Ladies Automatic is a feminine watch with a mechanical heart. The two-part stainless steel case measures 36mm across and the bezel sparkles with 40 brilliant-cut diamonds. The heart-shaped motifs on the dial are embossed, and the surface is finished with a sunray decoration for additional reflections. The applied Roman numerals at XII, VI and IX are silver and share the dial with a further eight brilliant-cut diamonds for the indices, save the position at 3 o’clock which houses the date aperture. The hand-polished silver-coloured hands complete the picture. With its sapphire crystal caseback, the FC-303 mechanical automatic movement is revealed, a reworked SW200-1 base movement with 26 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. To mark the brand’s support of the Pink Ribbon Foundation, the watch comes with a powder-pink embossed rubber strap with pink stitching and an additional white rubber strap, which can be changed in a jiffy.
Quick facts: 36mm – stainless steel – bezel set with 40 diamonds – convex sapphire crystal over dial, exhibition caseback – 50m water-resistant – light grey dial with embossed heart pattern – 8 diamond indices – applied silver Roman numerals – date window at 3 o’clock – FC-303 automatic – 28,800vph – 38h power reserve – hours, minutes, seconds, date – pink rubber strap (extra white rubber strap) – Ref. Classics Carrée Ladies pink ribbon
Rectangular timepieces became popular during the Art Deco period and are represented in Frederique Constant’s Classics Carrée collection for women. The latest member is this Pink Ribbon time-only edition housed in a polished stainless steel case measuring 23 x 21mm with 34 diamonds set in the bezel and a large onion crown. Unlike existing models in the Carrée collection with white dials and a central stamped guilloché decoration, the dial of this model is made from mother-of-pearl. With its natural iridescence, the mother-of-pearl accentuates the femininity of this watch. Black printed Roman numerals, black hand-polished spade hands and a railway-style chapter ring complete the dial. Underscoring its mission as a Pink Ribbon watch, the strap is made from shiny pink calf leather. The movement below is an FC-200 quartz calibre with a battery life of 72 months for carefree maintenance.
Quick facts: 23mm x 21mm – stainless steel – 34 diamonds on bezel – 30m water-resistant – convex sapphire crystal – white mother-of-pearl dial – FC-200 quartz calibre – 72-month battery life – hours, minutes – shiny pink calf leather strap (extra shiny blue leather strap) – Ref. Classics Ladies Quartz pink ribbon
The third watch in the Pink Ribbon series is this ladies’ time-and-date quartz model with a 36mm stainless steel case and polished finishes throughout. Large printed black Roman numerals give the watch its classic air along with the railway chapter ring and the stamped guilloché decoration in its interior. The silver-coloured dial houses a date aperture at 6 o’clock and, like the Carrée model, the watch relies on a spade-shaped hour hand. Fitted with a maintenance-free quartz movement with a 45-month battery life, the main design upgrade on this watch is the incorporation of a powder-pink rubber strap.
Quick facts: 36mm – stainless steel – 50m water-resistance – convex sapphire crystal – silver dial with guilloché decoration and black printed Roman numerals – FC-220 quartz calibre – 45-month battery life – hours, minutes, date – pink rubber strap (extra white rubber strap) – Ref. 220MS3B6-PR – EUR 595
