It’s worth mentioning that Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest watchmaking companies still in operation, spanning 230 years of history to this date. Following the announcement to partner with Aston Martin earlier this year – one of the most respected car manufacturers worldwide – Girard-Perregaux introduced a new take on the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges dedicated to the partnership with the British automotive house. Now we get a new rose gold version of that very same concept. Still the same impressive, contemporary and technical timepiece, which honours traditional watchmaking. This is the Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges in rose gold.
The Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges combines the savoir-faire of the GP Maison and presents it in an evocative, modern interpretation. Of course, the fact it uses the signature style bridges, although updated in style, is a direct nod to the brand’s history. And although this is a very contemporary piece, it is Haute-Horlogerie from front to back.
New to this version of the Three Bridges is the rose gold case, featuring brushed and polished surfaces. At 44mm wide, it is certainly quite a large watch, but it still looks relatively “light” on the wrist due to the open space under the crystal.
Time is indicated with skeletonized Dauphine-style hands, almost floating freely over the completely openworked movement underneath. To keep the view of the openworked movement as uncluttered as possible, the hour markers are attached to the inside of the case band. The absence of a bezel and the use of boxed sapphire crystals allow for an unimpeded view of the automatic movement.
You might be surprised to discover that this is an automatic watch because Girard-Perregaux has cleverly hidden the micro-rotor underneath the barrel. The in-house calibre GP09400-1683 comes with a one-minute tourbillon escapement and is suspended between the three bridges.
The top side bridges are done in gold, coated with black PVD, while the backside of each one is done in black PVD-coated titanium. The movement runs at a frequency of 21,600vph and has 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges in rose gold is available at CHF 138,300. It comes with a black alligator strap with a rubber effect on an 18k pink gold folding buckle and an additional black alligator leather strap with a gold effect.
