Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Titanium DLC

Here at Monochrome we love world timers. Probably the most useful complication in this modern day and age, for savvy travellers, whether for business or leisure. Girard-Perregaux introduced the WW.TC – which stands for World Wide Time Control – in the year 2000, and last year tit got a major update, both aesthetically and functionally and it was relabeled to Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC.  Today Girard-Perreagaux introduces a new version in black DLC coated titanium.

The new version is lighter, because of the titanium case, and has cool black looks, because of the DLC coating. DLC coating itself is very durable and scratch resistant, so it adds these properties to the watch, making it even more suitable for traveling our globe. Speaking of which, the center of the dial features a three-dimensional representation of the latitudes and longitudes covering the globe. This centre part of the dial is also the stage for the chronograph, in tri-compax layout (meaning sub dials at 3-6-9), the date that is placed between 1 and 2 o’clock and the brand’s name and logo.

Surrounding all that is the world timer with a recognizable city ring, which represents 24 cities from 24 different time zones, and the black/white 24-hour ring that indicates the correct time in each of the cities. It’s practical and easy to read, and because of the black and white 24-hour ring, you can also tell whether it’s day or night in the various cities. The city ring is static, however the black/white ring is in constant motion and completes a full revolution in 24 hours. Everything can be easily set with the single crown at 3 o’clock. We reviewed the Traveller WW.TC for you last year and described everything you want to know about world timers!

  1. Nice article – big watch on the wrist that attracts attention.

I have Thos Russell world time vintage watch of very similar looks, I have tried to find out some it’s history and date but found nothing.

Can you help? I can provide some pictures if it would help.

    Cheers, Rob
