Giuliano Mazzuoli Manometro 10th Anniversary Limited Edition
It has already been 10 years, since Giuliano Mazzuoli set foot into the world of watchmaking with his rather unusually shaped wrist watch. Mazzuoli’s first watch was inspired by a manometro, which means ‘pressure gauge’ in Italian. Although the Manometro’s shape is not unique (remember Fred Dingemans’s d.m.h timepieces?) his timepieces are certainly very cool and they stand out from the crowd. By now the Manometro from Mazzuoli has become quite an iconic watch, which is well known by the serious collector. Time to celebrate with a limited (and numbered) edition Manometro that resembles the very first model.
While the Manometro is a round timepiece (nothing strange so far) it is mainly the position of the crown and the strap attachment that are different, and determine the watch’ iconic and very recognizable looks. Mazzuoli’s Manometro is true to every characteristic of the object that has inspired its creation: the sturdy cylindrical case, with a 45.2 mm diameter and 14.8 mm thickness, and the large crown that is positioned at two o’clock. The dial is clean and very legible, nothing superfluous, and focused thoroughly clear crisp precision reading.
Giuliano Mazzuoli now launches a limited edition of 120 pieces – one for each month of the past 10 years – to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Manometro. The stainless steel case is polished and features Giuliano Mazzuoli’s signature engraved on the right-hand side of the case. The dial is in an ivory colour, similar to the very first Manometro. It features the ‘hand-written’ limited edition number, which is also engraved in the case back.
The Manometro is water resistant 50 meters (5 atm) and has a closed case-back that is also engraved with the brand’s name and logo, “special edition – 10th anniversary – 2005-2015” and “swiss made”. Typical for all Giuliano Mazzuoli’s timepieces, is the way that the straps are attached. There are no lugs, however the calf-skin strap is screwed to a piece of steel that is integrated into the case. The leather strap is made in Tuscany and it has a stainless steel buckle with the Mazzuoli logo engraved on it.
Ten years down the road, and a number of variations on the Manometro, it’s good to see this limited edition Giuliano Mazzuoli Manometro. A chance to own a collectable piece, designed in Florence, Italy.
