The first in Europe and the largest Grand Seiko Boutique in the world.
Grand Seiko had long been a hidden gem, reserved exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. The rest of the world had to wait until 2010 to discover Seiko’s take on luxury watchmaking and precision when the brand started its globalisation strategy. Now established as one of the most respected brands in the segment, Grand Seiko continues its expansion and presence in the French market, with the opening of the first dedicated GS boutique in Continental Europe. And to celebrate, the brand launches the ‘Paris Vendôme Limited Editions’ SBGK011 and SBGK013, based on the Elegance Hand-Wound watches.
Located on the superb Place Vendôme, the hot spot for jewellery and watchmaking in the French Capital, Grand Seiko officially opens its mono-brand boutique. Not only is it the first of its kind in Continental Europe but this newly opened boutique is also the largest Grand Seiko Boutique in the world. It offers the widest and latest Grand Seiko collection outside Japan, including several creations that are exclusive to the boutique.
The interior has been designed by the celebrated Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, in a mix of modernity and traditional design with its Sumushiko bamboo screen, its Tatami floors and Washi wallpaper.

The Paris Vendôme Limited Editions
In addition to the opening of the boutique, Grand Seiko releases two dedicated limited edition watches, based on the elegant, thin and hand-wound watches launched in 2019 – as reviewed here.
These watches feature the newly-designed GS case, with curved and slim profile – 39mm diameter and 11.6mm height – and an overall dressy feeling. These limited editions – 10 pieces per version – are available either in platinum (SBGK011) or in 18k rose gold (SBGK013). Both are powered by the in-house, hand-wound and thin calibre 9S63, with 72h power reserve.
Specific to these Paris Vendôme Limited Editions is the dial, which is silver-coloured on both versions. It features a new pattern – something the brand is very good at – that is named “Pavés Parisiens” and depicts the cobblestone streets of Paris. Also unique to these watches is the small seconds hand coloured in blue-green, reminiscent of the oxidised bronze colour of the Vendôme Column that is in the middle of the square where the new boutique is located.

Of only, please, the could drop the awful (IMO that is) power reserve. No-one ever need a power reserve on the dial. Backside please!
