Grieb & Benzinger Shades of Grey
Grieb & Benzinger are known for their handmade watches, based on vintage high-end movements, which are skeletonized to the max. The new white gold is called Shade of Grey (no, not 50 shades of grey, just ‘Shades of Grey’) and comprises 4 different models, made on request of their clients. Now if they had just called it the Monochrome collection…
The new Grey Polaris, Grey Tulip, Grey Tulip Imperial and Grey Tulip Diamond come in white gold cases that measure 43 mm in diameter. Maybe you remember the Black Tulip that Grieb & Benzinger, that we told you about. The new Grey Tulip features the same spectacular skeletonized and engraved movement. See here for the Black Tulip and you can see how precise the swirls and other adornments match that previous model.
The Grey Tulip was made according to the wishes of a client from Eastern Europe, who had seen the Black Tulip. His new Grey Tulip has much more discrete looks. The movement is fully skeletonized with floral pattern and guilloché and engraved by hand. The 18-karat palladium-white gold case is strapped on the wrist by a matching grey alligator-skin strap with a 18-karat palladium-white gold buckle.
The Grey Polaris, made for a client in Asia, features Sterling silver grey-colored hand-guilloché and semi-skeletonized that is coated with black rhodium. The applied, skeletonized dial with Roman numerals is coated with a lighter-colored rhodium that shows different shades of grey, depending on the light and angle you look at it. The visible movement parts are engraved with similar patterns as the dial.
The Grey Tulip Imperial is adorned with the finest Top Wesselton Princess-cut diamonds set into the bezel. The Grey Tulip Diamond is set with high-grade brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and lugs, for a client from the Middle East.
