The 20-second Tempograph has been part of the Louis Moinet collection since 2014. With its movement displayed in full glory, it stages an original complication: a retrograde 20-second indication producing a playful and rather hypnotic spectacle, giving material form to passing time. The visible retrograde mechanism is triggered by a ratchet gear sliding on a three-armed retrograde snail cam thanks to a ruby to minimise friction (one rotation per minute, 20 seconds for each arm). The tri-colour disc at 9 o’clock segments the minute in three 20-second parts. The following video makes things clear.

The movement of the revamped Tempograph remains the same from a technical perspective. However, its finish now offers more contrast combining black lacquer and pink gold, playing with light, depth and textures. Its case has been slightly revised and is a little larger at 44mm vs. 43.5mm previously.

Powering the Tempograph is the automatic calibre LM50, a proprietary movement developed with Concepto. Comprising some 260 parts, it runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 48-hour power reserve. On the back of the watch, the rotor also features a black finish. Underneath, the finish is more traditional with Geneva stripes, bevelled angles and snailing on the wheels.

Now 44mm in diameter, the pink gold case features the traditional Louis Moinet style. Its signature six-screw bezel is topped by a slightly domed crystal and frames a flange adorned with a clous de Paris guilloché motif. The knurled crown is emblazoned with a lily. Water resistance is of 5 ATM/50m.

The Louis Moinet 20-second Tempograph Chrome is presented on a black alligator leather strap secured by a folding buckle in the shape of the brand’s lily logo. A quick release spring bar system allows you to change the watch band easily. A limited edition of 60 pieces, it retails for CHF 48,000. Steel versions (black or blue) are also available at CHF 22,000. For more information, please visit www.louismoinet.com.

  1. In the site the information is Grade 5 Titanium for the black and blue versions and not steel.
Is the 22000 CHF the price for the titanium versions?
    Looks great…

  2. The titanium version was on the older model, before being redesigned.
The one showed here (Chrome) is available in 18k gold or stainless steel. And the CHF 22,000 price is for the steel version.
