One of the flagship collections of the Gutenbach-based manufacturer Hanhart, the modern Primus, is a masculine pilot chronograph relying on a bold yet easy-going style. While much more contemporary than the “Pioneer” collection, it still retains many of the classic “Flieger” elements. The latest addition to the line comes with a sleek blue dial and strap combo. A model dedicated to aircraft carrier pilots, the latest addition to the Primus collection combines a deep blue dial with a matching colour canvas strap. As you would expect for an aviator’s watch, the focus is on functionality. The display features common attributes of pilot watches. With its bi-compax layout, the contrasting, highly legible dial is clearly organised. The orientation triangle allows you to pinpoint the 12 o’clock position at a glance. The indices, numerals and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for easy and accurate timekeeping in all conditions.
The first thing to catch the eye with the Hanhart Primus Chronograph case is its modern and rugged construction. 44mm in diameter, the angular sandblasted steel case features flexible lugs to provide optimal wearing comfort. The red anodised aluminium push button and thin fluted bezel with red marker are typical Hanhart pilot watch features. The convex sapphire crystal features A/R coating. The screw-down crown is oversized to ease operations and the watch is water-resistant to 100m/10 ATM (German industrial norm DIN 8310).
Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback is secured by screws and allows a view of the calibre HAN3809. This self-winding chronograph movement is based on the trustworthy ETA/Valjoux 7750 with a La Joux-Perret module – this allows the modification of the trademark Valjoux 6-9-12 layout to a more harmonious 2-register display. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it has a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound.
The new Hanhart Primus Carrier Pilot is worn on a blue hardwearing canvas strap with a leather inlay. It is secured to the wrist by a sandblasted steel folding clasp. The watch retails for EUR 2,740. For more information, you can visit www.hanhart.com.
