The Exodus Continues as Maurice Lacroix Leaves Baselworld 2019
Another mainstream brand, another empty booth.
After having participated for 30 years in the Watch and Jewellery trade show, Maurice Lacroix has announced that it will be pulling out of Baselworld 2019. Yet another blow for Baselworld that is facing great challenges following the withdrawal of numerous exhibitors over the past years. Late July, Nick Hayek caught the industry by surprise announcing that Swiss watch giant Swatch Group would not attend in 2019. More recently it was the turn of Raymond Weil and Corum to follow suit.
Maurice Lacroix leaves the door open for its attendance at the 2020 edition of Baselworld, when the management team of Baselworld will unveil its new concept. In the meantime, the brand will present its new collections in Geneva during the Watch Week, which occurs as a sideshow to the SIHH. In 2019, Maurice Lacroix will be exhibiting its novelties on the “Ile Rousseau” in the heart of the city, next to the Mont-Blanc bridge.
Founded in 1975, Maurice Lacroix is a watch manufacturer headquartered in Saignelégier, in the Swiss Jura. The brand operates in the accessible luxury segment with collections such as Aikon or Masterpiece, aiming at delivering high perceived value at affordable prices. It is controlled by DKSH, a company based in Zurich specialized in providing Market Expansion Services in Asia.
