New Dials for the Omega De Ville Prestige

Launched in 1994, the Omega De Ville Prestige is certainly not the brand’s most striking or most coveted timepiece, overshadowed by the icons that are the Speedmaster and Seamaster. Nevertheless, this classic, elegant watch makes for a nice option if you’re in the market for an all-rounder with an efficient movement and Omega’s usual indisputable quality (and at a decent price too). For 2020, the brand adds new dial and colour combinations to the De Ville Prestige.

Well-proportioned, with its 39.5mm case, the De Ville Prestige is a classic, timeless and discreet watch that doesn’t need to make a statement. It has the right dosage of elegance to make it to the wrist of discerning enthusiasts with numerous options, whether colours, dial layouts or materials offered. This year, the collection is enlarged with all-time classic colours and two-tone combinations, for an extra touch of luxury.

The main novelty for these new Omega De Ville Prestige is the black or white dials with a honeycomb pattern, linked to a peripheral railroad minute track. The dial is adorned with the collection’s classic indexes, a combination of rounded Roman numerals and dots. Depending on the version, the indexes can be rhodium-plated (black dial), grey-coated (white dial in steel) or gold-plated to match the two-tone case. The same treatment is applied to the newly designed leaf-shaped hands, replacing the usual lance-shaped hands. The date window has also been moved to the 6 o’clock position – following the style of most current Omega watches.

These new dials can be chosen in several materials and the case is available in steel, in steel and 18k yellow gold and in steel and 18K red gold. A domed sapphire crystal sits on the back while the caseback is closed and embossed with the emblematic medallion for the De Ville Prestige collection – Chronos, the God of time. The four new models are worn on a metallic 7-link bracelet – in steel or with yellow or red accents.

Inside the case of the Omega De Ville Prestige is the Calibre 2500, an automatic movement made in-house by Omega (a highly modified ETA 2892-A2), equipped with the brand’s Co-Axial escapement. This calibre runs at 25,200 vibrations/hour and stores up to 48 hours of power reserve. It is a chronometer-certified movement.
