The 15th annual edition supporting millions of kids worldwide has a striking blue ceramic case.
IWC has been issuing special edition watches since 2006 to support Laureus Sport for Good, which has over 250 programmes in more than 50 countries. Nelson Mandela is its Founding Patron and said in 2000: “Sport has the power to change the world.” The goal is to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, and more than six million children and young people have been reached. IWC has issued all kinds of Laureus editions through the years, including a Portugieser Monopusher Chronograph and Portofino Automatic Moon Phase. This year’s pilot’s model is highlighted by a blue ceramic case, which is a first for IWC.
The ceramic is comprised of powdered zirconium oxide mixed with other metallic oxides with a huge emphasis on the quality and purity of the raw materials. The result is a dark blue hue that’s the signature colour of Laureus editions. It’s 41mm in diameter and 11.4mm in height, and comes with a soft-iron inner case for resistance to magnetic fields. A convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings on both sides protects the dial. The unique titanium caseback is engraved with a design from 12-year-old Melissa Mejía Castilla from Colombia, entitled “Vivir en Armonía” or Living in Peace. She won IWC’s drawing competition that it holds every year for this programme. The crown is a bit oversized and screws down, and water-resistance is rated at 100 metres.
The blue dial of the IW328101 is designed to resemble a cockpit instrument and has oversized white Arabic numerals for excellent contrast. The black hour and minute hands have large Super-LumiNova inserts, while the white seconds hand sports a red tip and black counterweight. A date window sits at 3 o’clock. A matching blue rubber strap with a textile inlay and blue stitching completes the all-blue aesthetic.
Powering the watch is IWC’s automatic calibre 32111 (manufacture, ValFleurier-based). It has 21 jewels, beats at 28,800vph (4Hz) with a sizeable 120-hour power reserve. Functions include central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and date.
The IWC Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” IW328101 is limited to 750 pieces and can be registered under the My IWC care programme for a 6-year extension to the standard two-year limited warranty. The watch is available at IWC boutiques, authorized retailers and online at IWC’s website. Price to be confirmed.

Caliber 32111 only 72hours not 120, please change it
Meanwhile everybody is waiting for a modern reissue of the mk xv with the traditional handset and the date window in the right place (a no date option would be nice but not holding my breath).
@Ricky – The new versions of the 32111 indeed have 120 hours or 5 days of power reserve. These have been recently updated.
