Introducing the Armin Strom Skeleton Pure Water & Fire (Specs and Price)
Armin Strom has several distinctive features that create a unique and interesting universe, both visually and mechanically. Skeletonization is certainly the main of these components. Recently, we introduced to you the Armin Strom Skeleton One Week, with an extensively openworked and engraved movement, made of multiple layers. Now the brand comes with a cleaner edition of this attractive high-end timepiece, the Armin Strom Skeleton Pure.
Almost all the watches manufactured by Armin Strom are coming with a movement slightly to extensively skeletonized. It can go from a (quite large) aperture showing the rotor and the barrel, like on the Gravity Water, to a fully openworked movement that shows the smallest of its mechanical details, such as the main springs or the ratchet wheel, like the Armin Strom Skeleton One Week presented this year at Baselworld. The latter was an impressive achievement, showing the ability of the manufacture to create a movement that is REALLY open. The engravings of the bridges were also impressive in terms of skills, but not necessarily needed on a design side. For that reason, the brand comes now with a clean edition, devoid of etchings and named Pure.
It uses the exact same technical base, the in-house movement with 8 days of power reserve (due to 2 main springs visible through the dial at 1 and 5) and the slightly off-centered display for the hours and minutes. The small second sits at 9. To avoid any intrusive elements, the minute track, the small second sub-dial and the brand’s name are displayed on a sapphire chapter ring.
As usual with Armin Strom, the Skeleton Pure will be available in 4 editions, inspired by the fundamental elements: Fire, Water, Earth and Air. For the moment, only 2 have been introduced. The first one, the Fire Edition, is using the same colour codes than the Skeleton One Week, meaning a 18k pink gold case (measuring 43.4mm)and a dark grey / brown PVD coating for the movement’s bridges. Gold can also be found on several details, such as the hands, the applied indexes and some of the movement’s gears.
The second edition is the Skeleton Pure Water. It comes with a stainless steel case and the movement’s main plate coated in blue PVD. All the elements of the calibre are in white metal or rhodiumed. The hands are made also in steel and the applied indexes are coated in blue. The Earth edition (case coated in Black PVD) and the Air edition (case made of titanium) will be presented during Salon QP in London (6-8 November).
The Armin Strom Skeleton Pure Water is priced at $ 33,400 USD and the Armin Strom Skeleton Pure Fire is priced at $ 46,400 USD.
