From In-Game to the Wrist, the New Hamilton x Far Cry 6 Khaki Field Titanium Limited Edition
Built for action... in-game and in real life.
As many of you know, Hamilton has a long tradition of watches created for cinema. With over 500 cameos in feature films, Hamilton appeared on the wrist of Elvis Presley in Blue Hawaii and even developed a futuristic concept watch for Stanely Kubrick’s epic 2001: A Space Odyssey. More recent screen appearances include the Ventura for Men in Black, the Khaki Field Murph for Interstellar or the Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO for Tenet. But today, it’s another kind of screen for Hamilton. This time, Hamilton has designed a watch with the development team of the soon-to-be-released Far Cry 6 video game. Here’s the Hamilton x Far Cry 6 Khaki Field Titanium Automatic Limited Edition, a watch that you’ll be able to enjoy on-screen and on your wrist in real life.
What are we talking about here? “Developed and published by Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 is a first-person-shooter video game set in Yara, ruled by the cruel dictator Antón Castillo brought to life by actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, 2009-2011). As Dani Rojas, players fight to free the nation from his rule, receiving the bespoke timepiece upon completion of a guerilla mission. Successful players unlock access to the in-game timepiece that’s equipped with a unique and original “keeps on ticking” function. The defensive wrist gear improves general defense during sprints, allows players to get in and out of danger quickly and efficiently, and will be a useful benefit for gamers as they fight for Yara’s freedom,” explains Hamilton.
“Hamilton’s Khaki Field isn’t merely an accessory choice or functional asset but is truly integrated into Yara’s history with a connection to the island’s deposed leader,” said Omar Bouali, Game Content Director. Players will have the opportunity to virtually wear this new Hamilton x Far Cry 6 Khaki Field Titanium Automatic Limited Edition when the video game launches on 7 October 2021 on most major gaming platforms. And what’s cool is that the watch you see in-game has been designed for Far Cry 6 but will also be available in real life, in a limited run of 1,983 watches – a reference to the year of action in the game.
The watch itself isn’t a surprise because it is based on the existing Khaki Field Titanium Automatic watch we’ve covered here. It displays the same overall military inspiration that characterises most Hamilton Khaki Field watches, with robust cases, highly contrasting dials, clean displays and elements that recall vintage military instruments once manufactured by the brand. The specificity of this watch, and of this limited edition too, is that it is made of grade 2 brushed titanium, offering a cool tool-ish look as well as robustness and comfort. The case is still 42mm in diameter, features sapphire crystals on both sides, and is water-resistant to 100m. And a positive detail is that the “titanium” engraving on the side of the case has been removed.
What is new for this Hamilton x Far Cry 6 edition is the dial. At first, it retains familiar military traits with oversized Arabic numerals, large swathes of Super-LumiNova and twin hour scales. Yet, for this edition, the brand has created a black dial with a vinyl-effect finishing on the hour ring, a special “split-6” marker (a reference to the game logo’s typography) and a red-lacquered seconds hand. All elements are generously covered in “old radium” luminous material.
This new Hamilton x Far Cry 6 Khaki Field Titanium is worn on a brown leather NATO strap and closed by a steel pin buckle. It also comes with an additional brown Nubuck leather strap and a changing tool in the presentation box. Delivered in eco-friendly packaging, the set also includes a leather pouch. Under the see-through caseback is the calibre H-10, the brand’s name for Swatch Group’s Powermatic ébauche. An upgraded ETA base, this movement features an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring, runs at 3Hz and stores up to 80 hours of energy.
