Introducing the Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Gold Collection
In January of this year Montblanc introduced an entirely new collection, called the Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage collection. This collection, with its classic design codes, is the first to incorporate everything that Montblanc as a watch brand has to offer. From very affordable and classically styled time-only, to the most affordable perpetual calendar on the market, to the Pulsograph with its stunning Villeret-made movement. Now they add the Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Gold collection, with full gold watches starting just north of € 6k.
During the exclusive Genevan watch show in January, everyone was amazed – more likely shocked – by the price of the Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar. And even the Meisterstück Heritage Pulsograph is (relatively speaking) a bargain at € 27k. Now Montblanc adds several 39mm gold models to the Meisterstück Heritage collection and again the price immediately catches the attention.
It is not only the price that catches the attention! The design of the Meisterstück Heritage collection is that of a timeless classic beauty and the new gold models measure a comfortable 39mm in diameter and are only 9mm in height. Inside ticks a mechanical movement – referred to as MB 24.17 – that is made by Sellita. A similar movement is also use in the IWC Ingenieur Automatic that we reviewed for you last year. It’s a good and reliable, automatic winding, movement that delivers 42 hours of power reserve and comes with a date function.
The new models in gold share the same design cues with the rest of the Meisterstück Heritage collection. Long faceted dauphine-shape hour- and minute-hands, a beautiful sunburst dial featuring polished and faceted applied indices, and small dots for every minute, in line with the finest watchmaking traditions. The elegant case features a horizontal satin finishing on the middle piece, and the bezel and upward facing parts of the lugs are polished. The crown is embossed with the polished Montblanc emblem, standing out from the sand-blasted background.
The new Meisterstück Heritage Date Automatic models are all made from 18 karat red gold. There are three new models; a classic version with a silver-white dial, a contemporary-chique version with a chocolate brown sunburst dial and a version with a silver-white dial and a bezel that is studded with 88 Top Wesselton diamonds. On this model the indices are also decorated with diamonds.
Not to forget, all models come with a see-through case back, with a sapphire crystal pane, that allows a view on the nicely finished movement.

Though Montblanc is famous all over the world for their fabulous writing instruments, Montblanc is creating outstanding watches nowadays and must be accepted as a serious watchmaker.
I totally agree with you, Debashish!
Com’on… a gold box around a sellita SW200 (that is, the most basical and random mechanism one can put in a watch, that you find in watches around 400 euros) proves nothing about Mont Blanc. They’re not watchmakers, they’re scammers… 27.000 euros for a 100 euros mechanism (not even able to afford a few more euros to buy a ETA …), and 30 grams of gold, 33 euros per gram… You got it. 1000 euros of gold, 100 euros of mechanism, 300 euros of work to manufacture the watch, add VAT and you’re somewhere around 1700 euros of real price. That watch should sell around 4000 euros. It’s sold 27.000. It’s just a scam.
Breitling sells watches starting from 2000 euros, they do their own mechanisms. They’re a serious watchmaker. Mont Blanc is nothing.
The Breitling watches with in-house movement don’t sell for 2k, and consider that Montblanc has more in-house movements, and of much higher quality than Breitling.
