The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow
A new, enigmatic colour scheme for the brand's evergreen dive watch.
Oris is, without doubt, a highly productive brand with many models in collection focussed on aquatic activities. From the classic Aquis watches in multiple sizes and colours, and even with an in-house movement, to the ultra-robust Prodive, there’s basically a watch for everyone. And if you’re looking for a cool, vintage-oriented sports watch with casual flair, there’s of course the Divers Sixty-Five, a watch that has become a cornerstone model in the collection since its introduction in 2015. Today, the brand adds a new and quite enigmatic colour, with the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow.
The Divers Sixty-Five is a watch that pays tribute to a 1965 model with a highly original design, specifically its dial with trapezoidal indexes. While this bold and not so consensual design has been replaced by a more classic set of applied indexes, what remains is the overall fun and cool design, that of a sporty, casual watch with diving credentials – but not the kind of instrumental specifications you’ll find in a Prodive. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five is an evocation of the past, with all-rounder specs.
The new Glow edition is based on the mid-size case, measuring 40mm in diameter. It retains all the specifications of older editions, meaning an overall classic and compact design with brushed surfaces, polished accents, an oversized and unprotected crown (which screws down), an ultra-domed sapphire crystal, a height of 12.8mm (but the watch feels slimmer thanks to thin casebands) and a 100m water-resistance.
The new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow feels monochromatic at first, with its combination of grey and black tones. But only at first. The unidirectional bezel features a black and silver aluminium insert and the dial, typical of the collection with its applied markers, is executed in a trendy “smoked” gradient grey colour. What changes here is the addition of coloured Super-LumiNova on the markers and hands, in turquoise – which could well be the new trend in watchmaking in the coming months… Also, you’ll be happy to see that Oris went for a no-date display.
Inside the case is the classic Calibre Oris 733, based on the Sellita SW 200-1 automatic. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow is available either on a riveted stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp or on a black leather strap with steel pin buckle. The watches are now available from the brand’s online boutique or at retailers, and prices are EUR 1,800 on leather strap or EUR 2,000 on steel bracelet.
