The Ulysse Nardin Diver Collection Welcomes Three New Models
Three attractive divers to navigate the summer months in style.
Ulysse Nardin’s watchmaking voyage began in 1846 with the manufacture of precision marine chronometers and continues today with the brand’s classic Marine collection and its sporty high-performance Divers. Just in time for the fun in the sun season, UN introduces three attractive models in its Diver collection all equipped with 300m water-resistance and automatic movements with UN’s silicium technology.
Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer 44mm
In 2018, Ulysse Nardin refreshed its formidable 44mm Diver Chronometer to make it more wearable, more comfortable and more contemporary. Presented in redesigned titanium cases with a new unidirectional bezel with raised numerals and markers and the elimination of the wave or shark pattern on the dial, the Diver Chronometer was still eye-catching but lighter and sleeker. The latest edition of the Diver Chronometer conforms to the aesthetic upgrades of 2018, and like the special Monaco Edition, adds a luxurious touch of rose gold.
The 44mm case is made of lightweight titanium with a blue PVD coating with polished and brushed finishings. Combining brushed rose gold and blue rubber inserts, the impressive concave 60-minute rotating notched bezel has raised and applied rose gold markings and Arabic numerals. A plaque on the left case flank bears the individual number of the watch.
The sandblasted deep-sea blue grained background of the dial hosts wide rose gold-coated markers with a thick layer of Super-LumiNova. The power reserve indicator at noon is slightly recessed with a white scale and a golden area to indicate an empty tank. The larger counter at 6 o’clock houses the small seconds – also picked out in white with golden markings at 10-second intervals – and the round aperture for the date window. The innermost area of this counter is snailed with a two-tone lacquered frame and the year 1846 picked out in golden numbers. All the hands are rose gold coloured and treated with Super-LumiNova.
Below deck and visible through the sapphire caseback is the in-house developed and produced calibre UN -118 with its proprietary silicium balance spring and Diamonsil escapement wheel and anchor. Beating at 28,800vph, it delivers a 60-hour power reserve and is chronometer-certified by COSC. The Chronometer 44mm comes with a blue integrated rubber strap with the signature titanium insert bearing the brand name in golden letters and a titanium pin buckle.

Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm
Positioned as UN’s entry-level piece, the Diver 42mm was also treated to a makeover in 2018 resulting in a more streamlined, less instrument-oriented watch. The latest Diver 42mm responds to this upgrade and, judging by the accompanying grey alligator strap, is clearly a dive watch that enjoys life on deck. It is still 300m water-resistant and has all the luminescence you need from a proper diver, but the combination of the steel case with a grey PVD finish and the rose gold accents transform it into a handsome, contemporary everyday piece.
A simple three-hander with date, the latest Diver 42mm comes in a stainless steel case with a grey PVD coating that is polished and brushed. In contrast, the concave unidirectional bezel with its distinctive notches is crafted in rose gold and features a grey rubber insert with applied rose gold numerals and markers. The grey sandblasted dial provides an attractive grained background to the golden inscriptions on the dial, which include the longitude and latitude of Le Locle, the minute/second markers, the date numerals and the brand name and applied anchor at noon. The hour and minute hands are also treated with thick luminous inserts and the central seconds is golden with a lollipop lumed tip. The discreet round date window at 6 o’clock has a grey background to match the dial
Powering the new Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm is the automatic calibre UN-816 with hours, minutes, central seconds and date. This movement is based on a Sellita SW300, extensively modified by Ulysse Nardin to incorporate in-house silicon components for the regulating organ. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it delivers a 42-hour power reserve.
Price: EUR 9,100, CHF 9,900, USD 10,400

Ulysse Nardin Diver 39mm
The third release is this women’s Diver 39mm in a polished rose gold case with a diamond-set bezel. Although it offers 300m water-resistance, the bezel is static. Set with 40 diamonds and with markers at 0, 15, 30 and 45 minutes, the luxurious rose gold bezel is ornamental and not intended to calculate dive times. White mother-of-pearl is used for the dial that is also set with 11 diamond indices framed in rose gold. The rose gold-coloured hands and the marker at 12 o’clock are treated with Super-LumiNova and the minutes/seconds are printed in black against the lustrous white mother-of-pearl dial. There is also a discreet round aperture for the date window at 6 o’clock with a white background to match the dial.
Also powered by the calibre UN-816 automatic, the Diver 39mm incorporates in-house silicon components for the regulating organ. Beating at 4Hz/28,000vph, it delivers a power reserve of 42 hours.
Two strap choices are included in the package; a white alligator strap with golden stitches at the lugs and an integrated white rubber strap, both a rose gold pin buckle.

9100 euro for a watch with a Sellita movement and PVD coating? Yikes. UN is a brand that seems very lost in the wilderness.
