IWC’s New Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Collectors’ Watch” for IWC Forum Members
IWC has been one of the first brands to pioneer with an in-house forum dedicated to IWC collector’s and special news of the brand. For the third time now, they have created a special edition watch for forum members and as Michal Friedberg, the forum’s moderator, says: “it is the most exciting news in the history of our IWC Collectors’ Forum“.
This is the new IW387808 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Collectors’ Watch” and it is limited to 250 pieces, for IWC forum members only. The announcement was made last Wednesday and it is not know how many are still available, but given the limitation and the very nice looks, we believe these will sell like hot cakes.
Let’s be honest, the modern IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph with the in-house caliber 89365, housed in a 43mm stainless steel case, with vintage-style creme color superluminova markers and hands… yes, that’s super hot! If you’re not a member of the IWC forum, well, you have one more (very good) reason to become a member!
Let me again us Michael Friedberg’s words: “…it embodies, to my thinking, the full heritage of IWC Pilot’s Watches symbolizing much about IWC’s long storied tradition, embodying everything that makes a pilot’s watch special. It has an authentic in-house chronograph movement, it uniquely carries a single date window and thanks to its soft iron inner case it is highly antimagnetic. This watch represents IWC, and our forum, more than any other watch –past, present and possibly future.”
The specs are simple: IWC in-house caliber 89365, a 43mm stainless steel case, black dial with hand-applied numerals and stick markers in rhodium with beige superluminova, hands in similar material/colors and a nice brown calf strap, with white military-style stitching.
The watch will be priced at 11,500 CHF (including 8% Swiss VAT). The watch can be picked up at an IWC boutique of your choice and will be available as of August 2014.
Only 250 of these IWC Collectors’ watches will be made, and each watch will be individually numbered on the back. And yes, it is possible to request a specific number. However… those who own the Collector’s Forum Ingenieur, which was introduced several years ago, can request the same number as their CFI. For the rest (numbers above 100) it will be first asked, first served. However head on over to the IWC forum for more details on how to acquire your own Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Collector’s Watch” -> IWC Collector’s Forum.
