The Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso is probably one of the most iconic watches around. So it’s time to browse through the new Reverso Virtual Museum, which offers a nice opportunity to flip through the Reverso’s history and admire both old and recent models.
Of course browsing through Reverso history was most interesting. I had no idea that the Reverso Grande Date I used to own, was initially launched in 2003 and it’s still in the collection. It’s magnificent that Jaeger created watches that stay fashionable for such a long period.
The recently launched Grande Reverso Ultra Thin is also proof of the timeless beauty of the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso.
The Reverso Virtual Museum can be entered via the Jaeger LeCoultre website. One minor point of criticism, my Macbook doesn’t like the virtual museum as much as I do, because it’s all made in flash (edit: it’s not available anymore).
As I went through the years and saw beautiful Reverso models, one really stood out of the already beautiful crowd. A limited edition Revero Art Deco from the year 2000. Usually I’m not crazy about salmon dials, but this one is just gorgeous. Maybe it’s because it has a beautiful guilloche finish, like the salmon color guilloche dial of the Roger Dubuis Hommage Mono-poussoir I blogged about last year.
The Reverso Art Deco has a massive silver, guilloche decorated, dial with applied hour markers. The hand wound movement, caliber 822 AD, has been decorated with grain d’orge. And what is really special about it… this was the first Reverso showing the movement through a sapphire crystal case back! Not a bad way to start showing the movement.

I too own a Reverso Grande Date since 2004-5. Sadly I am coming to the same conclusion on it fitting my “style”. I own way too many watches and rarely wear the Reverso.
I was attracted to the Reverso because in general the design is different than most watches; and specifically the Grande Date because of the technical difficulty of the 8-day mvt; and finally because of the history of JLC as a longtime & true manufacturer.
Of concern is that this is the only watch in my collection that needs service every 5 years. It loses accuracy half way through its power reserve and becomes useless as a time keeper. This has become an expensive proposition when worn so infrequently.
I wish it could be a keeper.

Hi Tom, your Reverso should not loose so much time that it becomes useless as timekeeper. Especially when you do not ear a watch a lot, servicing should not have to be done in five-year intervals. However, be careful with magnets (iPhone, laptop, iPad, chargers, bags with a magnet to keep it closed, etc.) as these heavily influence every mechanical watch that is not resistant to magnetism.
