Value Proposition – Time to rebel with LIV Watches
LIV watches does things differently, with an unconventional watch offered at stunning value for money. Bold design, bright colors, unusual shape… Still with what we love here, a mechanical heart. Introducing the LIV Watches Rebel Automatic & Automatic Chronograph, now on Kickstarter.
LIV watches is a Miami based brand, co-founded by Chaz and Esti. with a unique aesthetic. They are back on Kickstarter once again, this time with their third collection, the Rebel. Just like its previous Kickstarter campaigns, LIV watches’ success is pretty impressive. Over $1 million has already been raised to date! The fact that this result surpasses all previous Kickstarter records for a Swiss watch brand is no mere coincidence. At the heart of this success is the idea of offering Swiss quality at a super accessible price. Picture this: a Swiss automatic chronograph priced below $800… it’s amazing value for money, which LIV Watches is able to offer thanks to its direct-to-customer model with no middlemen. But product is king – so let’s talk about the Rebel.
The name says it all. With the Rebel, LIV watches’ goal was to design a rugged, non-conformist watch, setting itself apart from ubiquitous round watches. Its original shaped case features soft curves contrasting with sharp angles. The harmoniously curved profile makes the watch comfortable on the wrist. Its multi-layer construction meanwhile gives the dial a lot of visual depth, while the colored accents (case, dial and hands) bring its personality to life. The hour markers and hands are treated with luminescent material to enhance legibility.
The Rebel watch cases are crafted in steel with black or gray IP coating. These are rated water resistant to 100m. The sapphire crystal has antireflective coating. The display back is secured by 4 screws and makes it possible to admire the automatic movement.
The Automatic Rebel is available in two versions, a three-hander and a chronograph. These are powered by the SW200 (three hander) and SW500 (chronograph) automatic movements, two reliable work horses from Sellita, used by many reputable brands. The decoration is traditional with a personalized rotor.
The Rebel is delivered with a default rubber strap however, there is the option of ordering additional Nato or suede straps. A bracelet will be made available once the Kickstarter campaigns ends.
LIV Watches is so confident in the quality of its watches that it offers a 5-year warranty (and a 90 day return policy). This is indeed notable in an industry where the vast majority of brands stick to a standard 2-year warranty. The LIV Watches Rebel will be released in limited editions only – 750 pieces per color for the chronograph and 1,250 pieces per color for the three-hander. Quartz options are also available. You can find all options on the Kickstarter page here.
