Live From SIHH 2019 – Chabi Nouri of Piaget
The 2019 novelties of Piaget presented by its CEO.
MONOCHROME is reporting live from the SIHH 2019 with a steady stream of articles, photos and videos. In our second video, we talk to Chabi Nouri, the CEO of Piaget about this year’s highlights and why elaborate gold crafting is the focus for women’s watches in 2019.
Piaget gets back to its roots with an emphasis on its trademark ultra-thin movements, bold stone dials and textured gold bracelets.
Once again, the ultra-thin and elegant Altiplano model is the focus of the men’s collection. An icon of the brand for over 60 years, the Altiplano is treated to a very special dial crafted from a sliver of meteorite. The stars of the new Altiplano watches include two models which we were lucky enough to get our hands on well ahead of the SIHH:
- The Altiplano Tourbillon Meteorite with an off-centred flying tourbillon, a blue meteorite dial, brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, and the ultra-thin, hand-wound calibre 670P.
- The Altiplano Automatic 40mm with a grey meteorite dial and ultra-thin calibre 1203P fitted with a micro-rotor.
As a Maison that specialises in both watchmaking and jewellery, women’s watches have always been a speciality at Piaget. Gold is the protagonist of 2019 and a gold jewellery watch from the Extremely Lady collection shows off a high level of craftsmanship emulating the scales of a snake’s skin across the dial and bracelet. The Limelight Gala watch, with its extended lugs, captures the sensuality of Piaget’s jewellery watches of the 1960s and 1970s and two standout models for this year include a model with a mother-of-pearl dial and 4.8 carats worth of diamonds, and a classic Piaget model with a green malachite dial and a textured gold bracelet. The only downside is that these models run on quartz…
