The New Watches of The Piaget Limelight Gala Collection
6 vibrantly coloured gem-set limited edition Piaget watches from the glamorous Limelight Gala collection
Drawing from its original 1970s timepieces, Piaget creates 6 more Limelight Gala watches for women. These comprise three new Limelight Gala Precious watches in blue, yellow and pink to represent the sun’s cycle throughout the day, along with a rainbow version, a 300-piece limited edition Limelight Gala Mother of Pearl Palace watch and a High Jewellery Black Opal model.
These new two-handed Piaget Limelight Gala Precious watches are powered by Piaget’s self-winding 501P1 movement, feature a 32mm bezel and offer a sapphire glass caseback. The 18k white gold Sunrise watch is limited to 18 pieces and incorporates a very intricate “Palace Décor” technique into its 18k white gold bracelet. Its bezel combines 32 blue sapphire gemstones with 10 classic round brilliant-cut diamonds. 289 round brilliant-cut diamonds on the dial are arranged in a snow setting similar to the limited-to-8-pieces Zenith model – also in 18k white gold. The Zenith, however, substitutes the blue sapphires for yellow ones and the bracelet is set with 124 brilliant-cut yellow sapphires and 276 round brilliant-cut diamonds. The 18k rose gold Precious Sunset watch – limited to 50 pieces – features 32 pink sapphires and 10 diamonds on its bezel but this time surrounds a mother of pearl dial. It also features a white satin strap with an 18k rose gold ardillon buckle set with 15 diamonds. The Piaget Limelight Gala Precious Rainbow is a numbered edition and boasts a bezel set with green tsavorites and 37 sapphires in shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo and violet. The “Palace Décor” technique has once again been used on the models 18k rose gold bracelet.
The Piaget Limelight Gala Mother of Pearl Palace watch is crafted from 18k rose gold but measures a smaller 26mm diameter and features the “Palace Décor” technique on its two-handed mother of pearl dial. Its rose gold minute and hour hands match a surrounding bezel set with 60 round brilliant-cut diamonds and the watch is powered by Piaget’s in-house manufactured quartz movement – the 59P. The model is limited to 300 pieces and finished on a white alligator leather strap with a single diamond-set rose gold ardillon buckle.
Lastly, the Piaget Limelight Gala High Jewellery watch, with case dimensions measuring 36cm x 28mm, boasts a rare Australian-sourced black Opal dial adorned with a crystallographic pattern that catches the light in shades of green and blue. Echoing these hues, the lugs, bezel and bracelet of this quartz-powered model are set with a total of 83 marquise-cut emeralds held inside claw settings and 92 brilliant-cut diamonds.
