Introducing the Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition (specs & price)

We’ve knew about it for a while. We showed it to you a few months ago when we spotted Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 with a NATO strap – and then the official poster for the latest 007 James Bond movie, Spectre, definitely gave us the answer. Now it is official and here is the Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition that Daniel Craig will be sporting on its wrist – and it comes with small but quite cool unique features (sorry but no, there’s no laser on it).

You probably all know about the Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial, a watch that we loved at first sight here, for many reasons. First of all, it is a faithful but also modern re-edition of one of Omega’s greatest watches, the Seamaster 300m CK2913. The design of the new Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial is clearly inspired by its vintage predecessor (with its straight lugs, its triangular indexes slightly recessed in the dial, the bezel with a black insert). The parentage between these two, even if separated of 57 years, is hard to debate. So, the design of the SM300 is great, and so is its movement. It features the hyper-innovative Master Co-Axial Chronometer Calibre 8400, the first movement to be fully antimagnetic (and up to 15.000 Gauss, which is… a lot). Overall, the new Omega Seamaster 300 is clearly a very nice watch, both technically and visually – for all the specifications and the details, you can take a look at our extensive review.

As we told you a few month ago, we spotted Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial on a black and grey NATO strap – and as it was during shootings of the latest James Bond 007 movie, there was no doubt to have: the official Spectre watch had to be a SM300. What we didn’t know at that time were the unique features that Omega could include in the limited edition. Now we know. Alongside its stripped fabric NATO strap (that you can find in every Omega Boutique), the Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition is based on the stainless edition of the SM300 (so with a black dial), plus has two specific details to differentiate it from the normal edition.

The first one is the bezel. If the overall design and the materials are the same (a stainless steel bezel with a black ceramic insert), the scale depicted is different. While the normal Seamaster 300 features a 60-minute scale (like all good dive watches and like the vintage edition), this Spectre Limited Edition has a 12-hour rule – so that time can be kept with any country in the world, just like on a GMT watch, but without the GMT hand. The Spectre edition also gets rid of the luminous dot at 12.

The other unique feature concerns the second hand. Instead of its usual diamond shape and its white paint, it now comes with a ‘lollipop’ design – something that is reminiscent of the vintage military editions manufactured by Omega and that could be found on some old Seamaster 300 (and also on certain Speedmasters CK2998). Considering the activity of James Bond, a bit of military inspiration is not totally irrelevant. (edit: one of our readers also spotted that the 12 numeral under the top index was not here anymore and that the Omega and Seamaster logos were bigger)

Each of the watches will have its own unique serial number engraved on the back along with the SPECTRE film logo. The Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition will be available from September in selected boutiques in 7.007 pieces. Price is not yet released but expect a price a bit higher than the normal edition in stainless steel (5.400 Euro). More on Omegawatches.com.
