The Seamaster is one of Omega’s oldest collections. It was born in 1948 and modelled after watches that Omega delivered to the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Over the years, the collection expanded drastically, ranging from elegant timepieces to ultra-robust instruments. 1993 marked another milestone in the evolution of the Seamaster when Omega introduced the Seamaster Professional 300M, a watch that would become an emblem of the brand when it was worn by a secret agent to become the official 007 watch. The destiny of the SMP 300M would change forever after it was worn by Pierce Brosnan in the 1995 film Goldeneye – even though 007 was wearing a quartz model back then. From this moment on, the Seamaster Diver 300M would become known as the “Bond Watch”. In the following films – Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day – Bond was given an automatic and chronometer-rated version of the Seamaster 300m Professional.
With its track record of over 25 years, the Seamaster Diver 300M has been updated on countless occasions; it was fitted with a co-axial escapement at the end of the 1990s and enhanced with several ceramic elements. Sadly, during its transformations, the wave pattern disappeared. However, in 2018, when Omega revamped the model from head to toe: shaper aesthetics, innovative materials, powerful in-house movement and the comeback of the wave dial.
