Omega Seamaster Diver 300M – The James Bond Limited Edition Set

A few weeks ago, Omega introduced a new Bond-themed Seamaster Diver 300M, inspired by the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, a watch that we experienced live and gave it a good, objective look. Based on the refreshed model launched in 2018, this limited edition showed multiple, rather blatant 007-inspired details, mainly visible on its dial. In addition to this specific reference, Omega is now introducing a much more exclusive model, highly limited in production, comprising not one but two watches, with one made of 18k gold. You’re a Bond 007 hardcore fan (and also rather fortunate)? Well, this set of two Seamaster Diver 300M is for you.

At first, you could easily think Omega took the 7,007 pieces we reviewed here and created an additional gold model on this base… Well, not entirely wrong, but this “James Bond Limited Edition Set” has more specificities than just a luxurious material for its case.

Clearly dedicated to hardcore 007 and Omega fans (and the most fortunate of them, to be frank), this Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition Set comprises two watches, identical in shape, details and mechanics, only differentiated by the material of their cases. Almost identical to the Seamaster Diver 300M “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” 50th Anniversary, the watches included in this set feature the same Bond-movie-intro-inspired dial made of black ceramic, with a spiral-brushed gun barrel design and 9mm bullet head at the centre.

However, the new James Bond Limited Edition Set has its unique features too. While the regular model in steel featured a date window at 6 o’clock, with the 7th day of the month displayed with a Bond-related font, the watches of this set are no-date models. Also, a small “007” logo is found on the minute track, at 7 o’clock. It features an engraved limited-edition plate on the side made in 18K gold.

As mentioned, this set comprises two watches. The first, reference 210.22.42.20.01.003, is made of stainless steel with a black ceramic bezel filled with white enamel for its 60-minute scale. The second model, reference 210.62.42.20.01.001, is presented in an 18k yellow gold case with a black ceramic bezel on which the 60-minute scale is made thanks to Omega’s proprietary technology Ceragold. The limited-edition plate on the caseband is made of 18k white gold.

Both watches are 42mm in diameter and share all technical elements with the regular Seamaster Diver 300M, reviewed here. This means a 300m water-resistance, a conical helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, the signature lyre-shaped lugs and a black rubber strap with steel or gold pin buckle.

Special to this 007 edition, the watches of this Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition Set feature a hidden number 50 within the Super-LumiNova of the 10 o’clock index – a reference to the 50th anniversary of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) – 18K yellow gold hands and indexes, with a marker at 12 o’clock, inspired by the Bond family coat-of-arms. The caseback is decorated with this crest, metallised in gold and black on the sapphire crystal.

Powering the two watches is the calibre 8806/8807, the same base as other Seamaster Diver 300M, yet without the date mechanism. This automatic movement is Master Chronometer-certified, highly resistant to magnetic fields and ultra-precise.

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition Set comprises two watches, one in steel, one in 18K yellow gold, both worn on a black rubber strap. A stainless steel bracelet is also included, as well as two striped NATO straps, a loupe and a strap changing tool. The watches are delivered inside a Globe-Trotter suitcase with two watch rolls.
