Introducing – Oris Hammerhead Limited Edition
Oris Hammerhead limited edition – As sharks are facing extinction, Oris unveils its robust dive watch, the Aquis, in a limited edition to help raise funds for a shark conservation project run by the NGO Pelagios Kakunjá, and supported by Oris ambassador and professional diver Jérôme Delafosse. Specific Grey dial, Day-Date display, combined with the new Aquis style.
Oris just announced a revamped Aquis collection this year (read our article about the new take on the design of this sturdy dive watch here). Today, the brand is announcing a “Hammerhead” Limited Edition that will be available in June 2017. Based on this new, visually lighter generation of Aquis, the Hammerhead is built around the Oris caliber 791 with automatic winding (Sellita SW 220-1) featuring an enlarged day date indication.
The 45.5mm steel case is in stainless steel with a hammerhead shark engraving on its screwed case back. It features screw-in crown and crown protection and it is water resistant to 500m. The unidirectional rotating bezel has a black ceramic inlay.
The grey dial has applied hour markers filled with luminescent material. The polished nickel hour and minute hands and the blue central seconds hand are enhanced with luminescent inserts. The 2,000 pieces Orils Hammerhead limited edition comes on a black rubber strap or on a bracelet. It is delivered in a special presentation box with a hammerhead shark insigna.

It’s abundantly clear that Aquis is the best collection Oris has to offer in terms of looks. IMHO it looks better than rolex, a timeless diver watch with cult lugs and integrated metal bracelet.
Constructive criticism, as you I find your publications of be one of the finest out there… At the end of the second paragraph, where it reads: “SW 220-1) featuring an enlarged day date indication.” the minute hand completely blocks the day-date aperture, disabling the reader from accompanying the written description with a visual aid. Also, the hammerhead on the case back is mentioned but not shown. Perhaps it would’ve been interesting to see, since it’s what makes this piece so special. Beautiful watch!
This watch is a stunner and Oris has done a fantastic job of tweaking the Aquis without losing the bones of the first generation. Is owning two Aquis too much? I may just find out…
I am a huge fan of Oris. But why did they ruined the hands of Aquis?
Hi Xavier,
thanks for the review. I’m a fan of Oris, specifically of their divers…this one is once again a winner, a bit fresher than standard Aquis. Only doubt is the addition of the day – an hardcore diver should’nt have it as well as the date itself. I als wonder how the grey dial works in the flesh, it looks very reflective…
However, an exceptional value for the money.

I purchased this watch, stunner
Couldn’t be happier. [email protected]
Purchased the hammerhead and its my daily wear as its perfectly at ease whether as a dress watch or a sports watch. It’s a stunner with its grey sunburst dial and the 45.5mm dial size is perfect and doesn’t feel intimidating at all.
