Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Type 370 Mythe (10th Anniversary Edition)

Cars and watches are two universes that match usually very well! Two world of passion, of mechanics and of design. And also two highly collectible objects. The similarities are really significant. That’s what the Bugatti collection by Parmigiani Fleurier is made for: satisfying collectors of beautiful items, both of exclusive cars and high horology. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their partnership, Parmigiani and Bugatti will introduce 3 new watches, and the Type 370 Mythe is the first one.

Parmigiani Fleurier is a brand that has impressive watches in its collections. The brand is able to create from the (apparently) simplest 3-hand watch (for example the Tonda 1950) to the very complex Toric Resonnance and its snake-shaped gongs or a grand-complication such as the Tecnica Ombre Blanche. The brand is also known for one of the most prestigious partnerships of the industry, with the top-luxury car brand Bugatti. The collaboration has now lasted for 10 years, giving us some beauties such as the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Super Sport, and is not going to end soon, as 3 new editions will be introduced this year. First one to commemorate this teamwork is the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Type 370 Mythe.

Using the same base as the previously presented Type 370, this new edition comes with new materials, a new dial and specific finishes to the case and movement. The design is clearly recognizable with this drum-shaped case and a vertical dial that allows to easily read the time while driving, hands on the wheel. A feature that is shared with the Bugatti Super Sport edition but with a different design.

When the previous Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Type 370 was delivered with a full mirror polished 18K white gold case, the 2014 edition has a two tones case made of satin-brushed 18k pink gold and mottled anthracite grey surfaces, giving a more technical but refined look. The dial is inspired by the front grill of the legendary Bugatti Type 57. Made of an engraved gold plate, it gives the watch a deep art-deco look that fits the original shape of the case.

What doesn’t change is the manual-wounded movement and its impressive layout: all the elements are mounted vertically and thus creating the feeling of an engine. Of course we’re talking about a fully in-house movement, designed specifically for this watch. It comes with a 10 days power-reserve, indicated via a rotating drum, visible through the top of the watch. It uses two serial barrels. It may only displays the hours and minutes, but the technology used behind is quite impressive, as well as the quality of the finish: hand bevelled angles, circular graining on the plates, mirror polished elements (by hand of course).

As you might have noticed, no crown or pushers here. The winding and the setting of the time are made via a specific tool that has to be inserted in integrated crowns on the caseback.
