Mechanical Fascination – Introducing the Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT
Rebellion Timepieces was born from the love for mechanics. That’s their DNA and their watches strongly show this link with the automotive industry. The new Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT keeps the spirit alive, as it is deeply infused with the passion for supercars and turbo-charged engines, in a truly unique way. Gentlemen, listen to the rebel inside, fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wild ride!
Launched in 2008, Rebellion timepieces was founded by an industrialist, passionate about car racing, technology and watchmaking. Its sister “company” REBELLION Racing has demonstrated impressive and remarkable performance levels, especially for a private independent stable. Bold, technical and aggressive, Rebellion watches are made like race-cars, and show no shortcuts in design. Inspired by the idea of dramatizing mechanics, with a non-hidden taste for the spectacular, they are produced in highly limited series and combine hand-finishing with modern materials.
The Rebellion Predator is one of the most successful models of the brand. Its 2.0 GMT version is a “turbo-charged” evolution, with even more functionalities, which further explores automotive inspired design. When you add power, you need to add braking. Performant brakes are certainly even more important than a powerful engine. They are an essential part of race-cars’ performances…
The first thing you’ll notice about the Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT is its perforated center brake disk and its bold brake caliper to indicate hours, as it orbits around the dial of this watch. On the opposite side of the “dial”, a map of the earth with 24h hour disc allows to show a second time-zone. This display is whole, as all the indications actually rotate around the dial, even this GMT sub-dial, which is always opposite of the hour indication. The minutes are classically read by a red/white central hand.
The highly technical case comes in an imposing 48mm diameter. It is manufactured in titanium (it is also available in DLC-titanium or pink gold). Like all predator cases, it is aggressive, extremely complex and full of stark angles. There is indeed a lot going on here. Among other features, it mixes contrasting materials and it plays with multiple layers. Its sapphire crystal is framed by a thin bezel with 6 notches. It is adorned with logo-branded screws, which demonstrate a great attention to details.
The Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT is powered by a proprietary automatic movement, based on the utterly famous ETA2892. This reliable work horse is combined to an exclusive module, made by Telos Watch (Founded in 2009 and based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Telos Watch is a movement designer owned by Frank Orny and Johnny Girardin, the men behind the Harry Winston Opus 14 or the Metamorphosis for Montblanc – among other things). This engine, and in particular the cool rotor reminiscent of racing wheels, can be seen through the sapphire case-back. Its friendly-user mechanism allows to perform all adjustments via the crown.
The Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT is worn on an integrated rubber strap, fitted with a titanium deployant buckle with millimetric adjustment.
Forget about this new Rebellion Predator 2.0 GMT if you need a watch for a daily (except of you are a racing driver of course…) It won’t be suitable for everyone, but you have to expect something bold and unusual from a brand named Rebellion. This is the very reason why we think it is cool. The brake-caliper-inspired hour pointer is just unique. Well done!

Probably the coolest watch I’ve seen. The brake caliper inspired hour indicator, along with the rotation of the 24h on the brake disk is fabulous. It’s really striking I’ve never seen anything like it, wouldn’t ever get board of looking at it. I love it, thanks for sharing.
