Reservoir GT Tour Carbon: Race-Inspired to the Max
Reservoir was born from the fascination for all things mechanical and a nostalgia for the heyday of car culture. The concept is built around the brand’s distinctive way to display time, inspired by old speedometers. Following this very idea, the brand now updates its timepiece in full black attire. Looking for a watch to drive your murdered-out car? Well, the new Reservoir GT Tour Carbon might be the right one for you.
The unusual yet functional way to display time on Reservoir Watches combines jumping hours and retrograde minutes. An aperture between 5 and 7 o’clock displays the power reserve, just like an old fuel or oil gauge. All of that clearly takes inspiration from dashboard instruments found on modern supercars or vintage classic cars (depending on the collection). The engine under the bonnet is based on the reliable ETA 2824 coupled with a sophisticated proprietary module. The latter comprises no fewer than 124 parts. It is developed and manufactured by Telos in La Chaux-de-Fonds (for more information, read our introductory article here).
With the GT Tour Carbon, Reservoir is taking the model into a sportier, more aggressive direction. In a word, cool. This 200-piece limited watch is a sleek, sharp black-on-black dial and case combination. Perfect if you are a fan of Reservoir watches but want to convey a little more toughness and attitude.
The black forged carbon case comes in a 43mm diameter. It has a matte black-anthracite colour. Forged carbon is crafted by mixing shredded carbon fibres bound by a polymer, which are then moulded into shape and compressed under heating. It is then precision-machined and finished. Why forged carbon? It is strong all-around material while remaining light… and naturally, it recalls racing cars. Last but not least, with its marbling pattern, no two watches are the same.
The crown is screw-down and the watch is water-resistant to 50m / 5 ATM. Turning the watch over, the case back is held in place by five screws and opened on a 240° degree to provide a view of the self-winding movement within.
The grainy finish of the black dial adds a rough, industrial flavour to the watch. The brand calls it sandblasted, reminiscent of the asphalt found on racetracks. The minute track and indices are presented in grey. The red minute hand and power reserve indicator create contrast and enhance readability.
The Reservoir GT Tour Carbon is worn on a leather strap with sporty red stitching and perforations inspired by racing gloves. A black PVD-steel folding buckle sets the final touch. This limited edition watch will be available as of next summer. It is priced at EUR 5,600. For more information on Reservoir watches, please visit www.reservoir-watch.com.

5600 euros for a reservoir?! Really??
I’m just trying to picture the kind of customer who would drop 5600 euros on this? Honestly i can’t identify him/her. If the potential buyer is new to watches I’m sure he’d want to go for a known brand and 5600 euros gets you an entry level rolex, Glashutte, ulysse nardin, omega etc…
You are right. No way of paying such prizes for a watch with only 34 (!) hours of powerreserve and only 5 atm waterresistance. Not even in Carbon.
It’s a unique design. If Rolex, Glashutte, Ulysse Nardin, Omega etc offered the same design I’d take it.
