Ring Clock

Do you want a change from wearing a timepiece on your wrist (I cannot image, but hey, we need an opening sentence), then the Ring Clock might be something for you. The Ring Clock shows the time using either blue or orange LEDs and will definitely be a conversation-starter as well. 

By the end of last year, the Indiegogo project of Ring Clock came to a successful end, when they raised more money than initially budgeted. A successful new start-up, or at least it definitely looks like that. The Ring Clock is a cool piece, made from surgical-grade, allergy-free stainless steel, that will tell the time when you spin the ring.

The battery has enough energy for a week of “normal” use, and can be recharged wirelessly by placing it on the included dock. By spinning the ring it indicates the actual time, and after a minute it turns off automatically, until it’s turned again. According to Ring Clock the normal use is to check the time 15 times a day, and by doing so, the battery life is up to a week.

One of the images on the Ring Clock website shows a black version (my favorite) but there’s no mention of other choices that 316L stainless steel with either blue or orange LEDs. The Ring Clock comes with a wireless power charger pad (USB).

According to Ring Clock it is suitable for every day use and it comes with an indication of being splash/rain resistant, although they also state a water resistance of 30 meters. They say that they’re testing the ring clock and trying to make it suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkelling, sailing and water sports, however that is still not the case! At this point normal daily activities like taking a shower, soaking in a hot tub with a glass of bubbles and water related work (does this include doing the dishes?) are mentioned as a no-go area. The Ring Clock is also not suitable for swimming and snorkelling. Maybe not perfect, but definitely very cool.
