SIHH 2016: Introducing the Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum – Live photos, specs and price
Last year Montblanc introduced the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum and that was the brand’s first worldtimer. It was an instant succes, and received so much positive comments from both collectors and laymen. This year the brand not only celebrates their 110th anniversary, but also the 10th anniversary of the 4810 collection that was introduced a decade ago for Montblanc’s 100 anniversary. The entire 4810 collection has been redesigned, not drastically, but let’s say it’s a good touch-up after being in service for ten years. Slightly slimmer watches, slightly reduced diameters, and it looks good. Several novelties are being introduced into this collection, including aforementioned worldtimer, the Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum.
Last year we have tested the Orbis Terrarum from the Heritage Spirit collection. It proves to be a very stylish watch that easily catches the attention, and during our test period it received very positive comments. So compared to that model, the Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum comes in a 2 mm bigger case and features a more colourful dial. On the functional side nothing has changed, so it offers the same convenient worldtimer that’s very useful for travellers and if you have business contact, family or friends abroad and want to see their time at a glance. Below the sapphire dial with the map of the world, is a disk with a dark half and a more colourful half. Because this rotates below the see-through world-map you can immediately see if it’s night or day in a specific timezone, while a little closer look will show you the exact time in that timezone on the 24-hour ring that rotates around the sapphire world-map dial.
Inside ticks Montblanc’s calibre MB 29.20, which is a Sellita SW300 base movement with a module and some changes to the movement. The mentioned Sellita calibre is the replacement of the ETA2892/A2 that is not available anymore for brands outside the Swatch Group. Montblanc developed, in-house in the manufacture in Villeret, a module for the worldtime and also made significant changes to the base movement, which allows the hour hand to be adjusted with 1-hour increments. It is much more than “just” a module on top!
Last year Montblanc also made some changes to their facilities; the brand has two manufactures, one in Le Locle and one in Villeret. The latter is now the place where all movement developing, machining of parts, finishing and assembly is being done. The other manufacture in the beautiful historical villa in Le Locle, is where movement are bing encased and submitted to the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 Hours (more about those tests here.)
One of the features that really stands out, especially for daily use in our new Global Village, is the worldtimer. Seeing the time in 24 timezones around the world, in just a quick glance, is just great for everyone who has contacts around the world. Adjusting the hour hand by one-hour increments will mainly be useful for those who travel, as it only needs a few pushes of the button at 8 o’clock to adjust the hour hand with one-hour increments.
The new Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum comes ate a retail price of € 5.890 Euros (including VAT/tax)

It says here on the official website that it’s 41mm. Possible to confirm the size to prevent confusion? Thanks!
The 4810 Orbis Terrarum is 43mm, while the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum that was introduced last year is 41mm.
PS. looks like Montblanc made a mistake on their own website!
