habring2 Doppel 3 Limited Edition Horlogerie Suisse

Two and a half years ago, the Swiss watch forum Horlogerie-Suisse.com joined forces with Alpina, to created a limited edition Startimer Pilot Manufacture, which was for sale exclusively through the forum. Now Horlogerie-Suisse.com and Habring² joined forces and created a numbered limited edition of JUST FIVE PIECES of the Doppel 3 (that we just reviewed for you the other week) with a white dial and blue hands and appliques.

habring2 Doppel 3 Limited Edition Horlogerie Suisse
The Doppel 3 with its two prominent positioned chronograph pushers, clearly harks back to the sports timekeepers – hand-held chronographs – of the late 1960’s. Technically the Doppel 3 is a true chronograph-aficionado timepiece, as it’s developed, constructed, finished and assembled by the man who once developed a new construction for the split-second chronograph for IWC. Now the patents have expired, he’s free to build, and moreover improve his old design. The results are the award winning Doppel 2 and the new Doppel 3.

The movement, calibre A08MR MONO, features a mono-pusher for the basic chronograph functions start, stop and reset to zero. The second pusher, placed at the 10 o’clock position, serves just for the split-seconds function. A chronograph, a precision escapement and great reliability are exactly what you might expect from a very small-series production and the meticulous assembly skills of Habring².

Habring2 produces only around twenty Doppel 3 pieces per year, 5 of which are reserved for Horlogerie-Suisse. The regular Doppel 3, which we reviewed, comes with a silver/white dial, a grey/black dial or an entirely black dial, all with steel appliques and hands. This limited edition features a unique white dial with royal blue appliques and leaf-shaped hands. The 42 mm diameter stainless steel case, sporting a domed sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating, is made of 3 parts and water-resistant to 50 meters.

The words ‘LIMITED EDITION No. 1/5’ discreetly engraved on the caseback emphasise the rarity of this collector’s item. Its price is astonishingly of only € 5’900 ex. VAT (or 7’950 CHF incl VAT in Switzerland).
