Pre-Baselworld 2017 – TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 43 mm, now in Skeleton Version
Since its inception in 2015, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 has quickly become the emblematic model of the brand, being also one of its best-sellers – which is surprising, first because of the look, rather in opposition with the previous creations, and because of its price positioning, as being one of the upper-range watches. While in 2016 it has seen an evolution with a 43mm case, the skeletonized dial was still the privilege of the larger 45mm edition… until Baselworld 2017, as we’ll now have the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 43 mm, in Skeleton Version, with 3 different colors (intense black, navy blue and and cognac brown).
The Carrera Heuer-01 has been a success for TAG Heuer, as being the redefining watch: bolder, larger, more contemporary designed, more horological too (with an open-worked in-house chronograph) and exploring new territories in terms of look and personalization, thus targeting new groups of collectors. Still, the basics of the brand were there; the Carrera case and its specific lugs, the avant-garde spirit, the chronograph, the sporty / racing look, the young style. J.C. Biver, when taking over TAG, had huge expectations for this watch, and he proved right. First unveiled in a skeleton version with 45mm case, later introduced in 43mm without this opened dial (to answer the need for certain collectors with a smaller wrist), this TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 now combines the best of both watches, with the skeleton movement integrated in the 43mm case.
3 versions of this evolution of a known watch will be available, with 3 different color schemes:
- Black dial with red accents / black bezel / black rubber strap or steel bracelet
- Blue dial with red accents / blue bezel / blue leather strap or steel bracelet
- brown dial with red accents / brown bezel / brown leather strap or steel bracelet
On all versions, the base remains the same: a 43mm brushed steel case, steel pushers and an opened dial with steel applied markers and movement underneath in silver too. What changes is the ceramic bezel, in black, blue or brown, and the matching opened plate of the dial, inner flange, logo, small second counter rim. The layout is the same as all Carrera Heuer-01, with 6-9-12 counters and date enlightened in a window at 3. Compared to the 45mm version, the bezel seems slightly slimmer as well as the opening diameter of the dial.
Into the case ticks the Heuer-01 movement, in-house produced in the Chevenez manufacture. This movement is based on the automatic, column-wheel and oscillating pinion architecture chronograph 1887. It is a modern movement with all the desired technologies and the practicality of such movements. It just now comes in a sportier and bolder style, with the open-worked dial. It runs at 4Hz and boasts 50 hours of power reserve.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 43 mm Skeleton Versions (wether black / brown / blue) will be officially unveiled during Baselworld 2017 and, if prices are not official yet, expect under 5,000 CHF. Not bad for an in-house chronograph with column-wheel and opened dial… tagheuer.com.
