Remember a few days ago, Omega was teasing us with pictures that looked like a re-issue of the Seamaster 300. We’ve played with Photoshop and gave you our thoughts on what it could look like. Today, Omega presented a video that shows a more precise image of the future model that will be presented coming Wednesday at Baselworld 2014. And we were close to the reality!Let’s have a look at the “neo-vintage” Omega Seamaster 300.

The video shows many details of the new watch. First, and what relieves us, is to know that it will exist in several versions, such as two-tones Steel/Gold and full steel. So lets talk details and see which details we got correct in our preview:

  • The new SM300 will have a straight lugs case (no protection guard and symmetric design)
  • A bracelet with mirror polished centre links and brushed external links, which looks like the bracelet of the Aqua Terra and the Speedmaster ’57. The bracelet features the new buckle with fine adjustment – similar to that you can find on the new Speedmaster Mark II
  • A ceragold bezel inlay and a Sedna-gold rotating bezel, depending of the version of the watch (two-tone or steel)
  • Broad-Arrow hands and triangular indexes, resembling the old SM300 CK2913

There are a few things that we didn’t notice when working on the preview. First, the dial will be a “Sandwich-Dial”, meaning two layers – one for the indexes and one, with hollow punches, for the dial itself. The hour markers and ‘lume’ used on the hands and the Seamaster logo, is crème coloured to get that vintage touch.

The other big question comes from the “Master” indication. Could the new SM300 feature the anti-magnetic calibre that Omega introduces last year on another model of Seamaster and capable to resist to 15.000 Gauss? We’ll have to wait a few more hours to discover it. Stay tuned and check back here on Monochrome-Watches and our social network channels.

Now the big question is, if Omega will substitute the current Seamaster 300 (our contributor Mario was wearing one for more than a year) or this new one will be a new range?
