The Speake-Marin One&Two Openworked Dual Time Mint (Live Pics & Price)
A fresh and cool mint-green twist for the Speake-Marin’s Dual Time watch
Speake-Marin has always offered an offbeat take on classic Swiss watchmaking, infusing it with a touch of British eccentricity. Introduced in 2019, the One&Two Openworked Dual Time encapsulates the Speake-Marin flair while incorporating many of the elements at the core of the brand’s recent evolutions: an interesting movement part of the new family of proprietary calibres, the new Piccadilly case… and that characteristic eccentric yet elegant touch. For Watches & Wonders 2021, Speake-Marin gives a new twist to the model with a spark of mint green.
This new take on the One&Two Openworked Dual Time stands out with its original colour mix combining 3 hues: mint green, silver and black with a DLC-coated titanium case. The brand mentions that this was inspired by the ‘Black Architecture’ movement. The new Piccadilly case is the evolution of the emblematic Speake-Marin design that was recently refreshed with the help of Eric Giroud. The distinctive tubular body now feels thinner as a box-shaped glass reduces the overall profile of the case and the lugs have been reworked. Just like the previous editions, it is available in two sizes, 38mm and 42mm.
The One&Two Openworked Dual Time Mint is powered by the automatic Calibre SMA02. Since 2015, Speake-Marin has initiated a movement strategy to fully develop and assemble proprietary movements in the Neuchatel area. This new strategy gave birth to the “SMA” series, with a small second at 1.30 and a micro-rotor. The SMA02 integrates a dual time display at 9 o’clock over the micro-rotor and retrograde date at the periphery of the small second at 1.30. The partially openworked design and the movement’s architecture creates an interesting triangulation between the two subsidiary displays and the exposed barrel (with its cool wolf-tooth wheel) at 5 o’clock.
Flip the watch over and the exhibition caseback allows you to discover the other side of the movement decorated with thin ribbing and of the micro-rotor integrated under the brand’s hallmark watchmaking topping tool inked in green for the occasion. The Calibre SMA02 runs at 4Hz and stores up to 52 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The Speake-Marin One&Two Openworked Dual Time Mint comes on a light green rubber strap fitted with a black DLC-coated steel pin buckle. It is available in two limited editions: 10 pieces for the 38mm version and 18 pieces for the 42mm case. Price is set at CHF 29,400 (excl. taxes) for the 38mm version and CHF 29,900 (excl. taxes) for the 42mm version.
