Tudor 2014 News – Or What Would Love To See At Baselworld 2014
A few days ago, we gave you our thoughts on what could be Rolex’ offering of novelties at the upcoming Baselworld fair. Tudor, having been in the shadow of big brother Rolex for some decades, have been working on a rather successful come-back in the past years. While Rolex doesn’t dwell on the past, Tudor on the other hand did do that and resurrected brilliantly by using their past. And like its big brother, they guard their secrets and the only way to for us to get a glimpse of their future is to dream up our desired 2014 Tudor novelties.
As said, Tudor has quite a crush on vintage, their own vintage models that is. And we join them in having a crush on Tudor models of yesteryear. Like the old Submariner Snowflake, the Sub Big Crown, and the Big Block chronograph. These models found their way into the current collection, as Tudor introduced quite a few vintage-inspired models in the past years. Just think of the Heritage Chrono (inspired by the Monte-Carlo), the Black Bay (inspired by the 7924 Big Crown) and the Pelagos (that resembles the Tudor Submariner with Snowflake hands). Since we won’t get to see anything before Baselworld starts, we present you the Photoshop-ed dreams that Tudor will hopefully present this year.
Tudor Pelagos Blue Dial ref. 25500TB
The Submariner Snowflake is probably one of the true grails for Tudor collectors, and probably for Rolex collectors too. It was basically the same case as Rolex used for their Submariner, with a depth rating of 200 meters. It came with a black or blue dial, and we somehow love the blue dial Snowflake. Tudor could pay tribute to this important timepiece with a blue version of the Pelagos, a watch full of advantages: titanium case, depth rating of 500 meters (enough for 99.99% of us), a helium escape valve and a very clean and legible dial, featuring the famous square-end minute hand. Don’t you think that on a BLUE rubber strap, it looks really stunning?
Tudor Heritage Black-Bay Black ref. 79220N-BC
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay is one of the best re-edition we have seen within the past years. It uses elements from the vintage Tudor ref. 7922, ref. 7923 and mostly from the ref. 7924, as we can see the exact same writing (especially this curved “self-winding”), a case without crown-protection, a dome crystal and a gilt dial (meaning some gold-tone inscriptions). OK, the snowflakes hands were not part of those references (they were delivered with Rolex “Mercedes” hands), but they look great. All of these elements are really appealing for the vintage lovers that we are. The only thing that disturbs us is the red bezel, a bit odd in this context. So we’ve imagined a black bezel Black-Bay. And to get closer to the original, we’ve imagined it with a “BIG CROWN”.
Once again, Baselworld 2014 is really close and we hope that our dreams come true. Stay tuned for our Baselworld live report!

You must have read my mind! I’ve been holding off buying a Black bay as I’m not a fan of the red crown and been weighted in favour at the Pelagos even though I love the vintage styling. You have photoshopped the watch from my imagination and would snap it up in an instant should they announce it.
@Andy, glad you enjoyed it and that you share our “dreams”
Lots of us think that a Black Black-Bay could be a great deal, as several owners get bored of the red bezel quickly!
Just wait a few days and we’ll discover what are the real novelties. Stay tuned and thanks for your comment
Really nice pics Brice! Maybe the black Black Bay could look like this if that version appears on Basel World 2014. I think if they present a version with a black bezel that the handy and indexes would be made out if white gold instead of rose gold. In my oppinion that would harmonize a lot better.
Let’s see who’ll be right when the curtain falls…
@Martin thank you for your feedback. Glad you liked the article and our “photoshoped” Tudors.
Your idea of white gold indexes is good too. For this article, we tried to keep the vintage look that the “gilt dial” could give. As the black bay is inspired by vintage watches, we wanted to keep this touch.
Anyway, just a few more days to wait and see what the Rolex Group will present. Stay tuned for our live report.
Thanks for your support Martin.
