Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue Reviewed

This year at Baselworld the Monochrome Team visited Tudor for the first time. That might just have something to do with the introduction of Tudor on American soil. Finally Tudor is available for US customers! Over the past few years Tudor has been building a new collection, that has deep roots in their own heritage. A very rich heritage that is not solely based on tool watches, although we’re going to have a look at one of the most legendary Tudor watches and its newest reissue: the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue. When we entered the Tudor booth something really amazing happened…

I guess I walked in first, met with someone from the Tudor team, and after a glimpse on her wrist I grabbed her hand and was immediately impressed by the watch she was wearing. Funny thing is that pretty much everyone that came in after me, did more or less the same! In all my years visiting many, many brands at Baselworld I have never witnessed something like that. The watch that several people from the Tudor team were wearing: the Heritage Chrono Blue! (the photo below shows Elze-Sophie’s wrist)

The Tudor ref. 7169/0, nicknamed ‘Monte Carlo’, was originally introduced in 1973 and both the new reissue and the original version, have this great 1970’s style to it. I guess the newly introduced reissue might even win, when it comes to that seventies-look, because of the additional blue fabric strap with white and orange stripes.

Even when focusing on details the old and new are extremely close in design. The most eye-catching change is that the new version does not have the iconic magnifying ‘zit’ over the date window, to magnify the date. But for the rest, color schemes, size, overall look and appearance, it is a magnificent “new & improved” version of the old Tudor Monte Carlo.

The Heritage Chrono Blue is a cool looking, ‘summery’ watch that attracts many positive responses. It looks like the summer and it feels like the summer. I guess the advertisement that Tudor created for it, with the speedboat and the water skier behind it, only adds to that feeling. While wearing it, a song composed by Gershwin kept coming back to my mind: “Summertime and the livin’ is easy…”

One of the very nice features, was that changing straps is so easy. And that’s logical considering the Heritage Chrono Blue comes with a stainless steel bracelet and an additional blue fabric strap. You can read my full review on Watchonista (click here).
