Crafter Blue Hyperion Ocean 600m, Launching on Kickstarter
A Swiss made, 600-meter water resistant dive watch at an affordable price.
Crafter Blue was founded in Hong-Kong in 2014. The company started its activity crafting rubber straps for dive watches. Just two years later, they launched their own watch, the Mechanic Ocean 300m. The brand now launches on Kickstarter their first Swiss made dive watch (manufactured with a partner in La Chaux-de-Fonds), the Crafter Blue Hyperion Ocean 600m.
The Hyperion Ocean 600m is presented in a 316L steel case. At 45mm in diameter (50mm lug-to-lug), it features imposing dimensions. The main components of the watch evoke iconic diving watches: the c-shaped middle case with its fluted crown positioned at 4 o’clock; the steel or PVD-coated steel bezel with engraved markings. The watch features some of the typical specifications of a 600m water resistant diver, for instance a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-in crown and a helium relief valve. What is less traditional for a 600m diver is a soft-iron movement casing that is visible with a sapphire glass fitted in the caseback. This aims at protecting the movement from magnetism, by housing it in a protective cage.
The black dial of the Crafter Blue Hyperion Ocean 600m is clean and legible, as you would expect from a serious dice watch. The luminescent indexes and hands aim at ensuring optimal legibility in all conditions. The sky-blue accents are a nice touch. Beating inside is the tried-and-tested Sellita SW200. An alternative to the ETA 2824, this ubiquitous automatic workhorse ticks at 4Hz and offers 38 hours of power reserve. It displays the hours, minutes, seconds and the date.
Without surprises, the Hyperion Ocean 600 is worn on one of the Crafter Blue rubber straps embossed with their logo, the S2 rubber strap with 15 holes for increased flexibility in length adjustment. It is secured to the wrist thanks to a steel pin buckle.
The Crafter Blue Hyperion 600m has just been launched on Kickstarter. It comes in two versions with either a steel or a PVD-coated steel bezel. Price starts at HKD 4,600 or USD 599. The campaign is already funded and watches are planned to be delivered in October. For more information, you can visit the brand’s website here and Kickstarter.

Nice, but so turtle’s 🙄
Nice Japanese-inspired watch. Too bad its size is also Japanese inspired.
Crafter Blue. A brand without identity, known to copy Citizen and Seiko design clues into their product lines.
This latest one is so confusing it makes you wonder if the Seiko 6105-8110 and the Panerai Submersible got together and made a baby…
