Weekly Watch Photo: Christiaan van der Klaauw Ceres 1974
Several years ago I started with the Weekly Watch Photo, after I stumbled across several mind-blowing photos of equally beautiful timepieces. The last year, or year and a half, the Weekly Watch Photo is not Weekly anymore, however while browsing a forum I stumbled across a brilliant photo of a watch made by the Dutch watchmaker Christiaan van der Klaauw. This is the Ceres 1974 and although it is probably the most affordable model of the brand, it looks absolutely great.
The photographer who made these stunning photos is Tony, who’s photos have featured in our Weekly Watch Photo more than once. A similar watch was offered for sale in the TZ-UK.com sales forum, and Tony posted his photo of the exact same watch, just to show how incredibly beautiful this watch actually is. The current Christiaan van der Klaauw collection exclusively focusses on watches with an astronomical complication, like this Ceres 1974 with a moon phase indication.
Christiaan van der Klaauw, born in Leiden, Netherlands, in 1944, is not that active in his own company anymore. Since several years Daniel Reintjes runs the company and is responsible for a full make-over of the entire collection. Now all Christiaan van der Klaauw watches feature the CvdK logo at 12 and Roman numerals for hour markers, on the upper part of the dial. We did a full write-up on Christiaan van der Klaauw when he celebrated his 40th anniversary with a commemorative piece.
Now without further ado, here’s the rest of Tony’s photos. By the way, Tony publishes his photos at halfpastthehour, so make sure to hop over and have a look.
