Weekly Watch Photo – Roger Dubuis Pulsion Skeleton Flying Tourbillon

Roughly ten years ago I fell in love with a watch that I saw in an ad in a watch magazine. At the time I had no idea about complications, different levels of finish or just the basic functioning of a mechanical watch. I just knew that watch was STUNNING. It was the Roger Dubuis Golden Square Flying Tourbillon, with a white dial and huge black roman numerals. 

While this still is a watch that I’d love to add to my collection one day, if funds will ever permit this. I also realize that it’s a rare one, limited to 88 pieces and of course long sold out. A few weeks ago Roger Dubuis contacted me that I was allowed to review a model from the new Pulsion collection, that was released in January of this year.

I was more then glad to get the Pulsion Skeleton Flying Tourbillon for a review, as this had exactly the same movement as the watch that I fell in love with, more then 10 years ago. Although, almost the same, because Roger Dubuis has improved all their calibers, the production, finishing, assembly and everything involved before a watch is shipped to A.D’s around the world to leave behind some technical problems they sometimes had before. We can say that this is the new and improved Roger Dubuis Flying Tourbillon caliber. The very same movement, although not skeletonized and with a large date, that can be seen in the absolutely stunning La Monégasque Flying Tourbillon.

The photo above perfectly shows how jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, drop-dead-gorgeous the black polished tourbillon cage is. When I moved the camera a just a bit, the anti-reflective coating became visible and so did the impeccable shine of the flying tourbillon cage of caliber RD505SQ.
