It’s a wrap, that was Baselworld 2018
A quick look back at the week and our annual Schnitzel Dinner
Last week on Tuesday afternoon the MONOCHROME team arrived in Basel and, as per usual, we came from various directions. Brice drove all the way from Tours, France, to Switzerland and picked up Xavier in Neuchatel on the way to Basel. Rebecca took a flight from Spain and Roberta flew in from the US to attend Baselworld. Robin and I drove from the Netherlands (The Hague / Rotterdam), via the German Autobahn (more roadworks than we liked to be honest) to the Baselworld Watch Fair. Yesterday, after an exhausting seven days, packed with meetings, we headed back home and today… we’re resting, unpacking and I’m spending the full day with my three-year-old son (it’s time to play Fireman Sam or whatever is his favourite this week.)
One of the highlights of the past seven days was the famous Schnitzel Dinner that we’ve been organising for 8 years already. Something that started as a small and informal gathering of independent watchmakers (Grönefeld, Voutilainen, Speake-Marin, Sarpaneva – among others), online journalists and collectors has grown exponentially over the years and we literally took over the restaurant. Towards the end of the evening, it’s always time for the table shot.
You can find all our Baselworld coverage here, in case you missed something, and as of tomorrow, we’ll slowly start the engines again. Thanks for reading MONOCHROME and I hope you enjoyed our coverage of the fair. On Friday we’ll end the Dan Henry give-away, so if you have not filled out the short questionnaire, you can do that here.
